How much mileage I can expect from XETA

Hello everyone,

I’m going to purchase new Indica V2 XETA, this week.
My initial choice was Alto LXI.
But I was surprised with new XETA power, interiors, styling and yes PRICE!!

The only thing I’m concerned is mileage.
Brochures say 14KMPL, but I want to consult some real users.
Is there anybody having XETA, please help me with the figures.

Don't have a 1st hand experience but talked to a Xeta owner last week at the service station. He says that in his short ownership period of 1500+ kms he has come to the conclusion that whatever he does the car gives him around 13 in city. His idea is that with light foot and no AC and otherwise good driving sense it is indeed possible to surpass the 14kmpl that the company claims which he got on a couple of occasions.

Hi Ajay,

I am using Indica Petrol for the last 2 yrs. It is a good/sensible vehicle, have driven to very remote corners of Utrranchal hills, just kept me going.

Test drove XETA, comes up as a good value for money option. Though the engine is little sluggish as comapred to the Indica Petrol bought 2 yrs. ago but I guess no gains (mileage) with pains (slight compromise on power).

All the best the best for your XETA and do post your initial feedback.

Happy driving.

Rakesh

Ok... thought will update you all. Earlier I posted my conversation on the Xeta FE with some owners. Frankly speaking I was a bit skeptical about the petrol's mileage figures.

Now here is my first hand experience. Picked up a Xeta last month for a very close friend. When he asked me I told him "drive sensibly and you should get at least 12 in city with AC". Afterall when you get a heavy and comparatively spacious car with Xeta kind of pickup (its really no slouch) you can not expect an Alto kind of mileage.

So I was a bit suprised when he came to me and said sheepishly that he is not sure whether he is calculating it right but he seems to be getting a bit more than expected mileage. I tried it out last week myself (2 consecutive tank fills in front of me). And surprise of surprises... with constant AC in Hyderabad city's 'guchug guchug traffic' (my friend's description, not mine) it actually returned 13.6 kmpl!!! My friend who was till then not sure of whether he was calculating it right confessed that he even got 14.2 kmpl once and regularly gets more than 13.5kmpl.

So there we are... Tatas seemed to have learnt a few tricks with their petrol engines afterall!

I dont think they have done anything overnight to increase FE. If they have, they would have certainly publicised it.

Oh they are publicising it alright. They are all along claiming a 14kmpl in city. Just that we are a skeptic lot and Tatas are a bit lowkey when it comes to pushing something beyond a point.

Oh yes, the Xeta is one frugal thing. More so for the specs. It DOES run a very lean map, which is why it's rather sensitive to bad fuel.

I've driven over 35000 Kms
Mine gives me 14.9 in Chandigarh traffic without AC.
13.5 in city with 100 % AC

and a whopping 18 Km / L on national highways..
