Confused :( - Swift or City (old) or Lancer (old)?

furious you got to make up your mind about the budget and whether you intend spendinbg on a new/used car.
i wrote off the escort coz it doenst just move with no matter what you do to it. i mite as well sell it and buy a real old esteem instead which will be ore or less hassle free compared to the escort and parts of which aree easily available.
a 99-00 lancer would cost you around 2.5, surely not more than that unless its the sfxi which mite be dearer by 10-20k.
but before anything you have to be certain about how much you want to spend.

p.s. will your escort actually fetch 1 lakh, coz i ve seen these go for much cheaper.

Yea man i dont think it cud bring me 1 Lac .... guess 50-70k max.

Ok Swift is out coz boot space is too small for a LPG Cylinder.

So now the Lancer and OHC.....which? Am not sure of my budget though. Firstly i gotta decide on the car and next the budget, the lesser the better , thats all i can say now.

usually its the budget firrst and then the car!!
anyways since you wanna look at the least expensive and practical alternative to your escort then look around for an estemm, say 99 era roughly around 1.5
and if you can up your game a little bit, say by a lakh then a lancer and baleno (99/00 models)seem to be your best friends in that block (2.5 lakhs), a trustworthy type 1 98 spec honda wouldn't mind serving you either.

hey furious...who said u can put a lpg cyl in the boot of a swift....if u can put lpg in a zen,santro,800...then why not in a swift?but yes,after the cylinder there wont be much space left

Dear Furious, stop confusing yourself further. In plain simple words-
Get rid of your escort ASAP. Dont wait till its used market becomes like that of 118 NE. Even 70-75k is good just grab the opportunity.
Dont worry, you have many options after this.

1) As manson said an esteem is the minimum you can think of.
Starting from Rs. 70,000 for a 1995 model to about 2 lacs for a 2001 (MPFI)

2) A 1998-99 Lancer just under 2 lacs OR 2001-02 Lancer for 3 lacs and above

3) A 1998-99 OHC 1.3 for 2.20-2.25 OR 1.5 for under 2.5 lacs (recommended)

4) OHC vtec for 4-5 lacs

I think its upto you and your dad to decide now. Keep us informed pls.

thankz az all the info in one post. Ok i have decide to discard off my Escort ASAP. Wish my dad got rid off it when the car was in a badly rammed up condition when a guy turned up ready to pay 50k

Now he is repenting coz the repairs are costing a lot. Hmmm so that leaves me with the Lancer and the OHC...yes i can game on for 3 Lacs max for a car...i guess i may end up buying a new car or a used Lancer or OHC. The new car budget is 5 Lac max as for now, my dad may change his mind and go upto 8 Lacs maybe. And regarding the seconds...max is around 3 Lac.

I guess it will be vice to stick with a second than a new one coz i will use only for 4 years and am a begginer, BTW am getting my licence this Monday and my driving classes start tomorrow

Thanx a lot....finished my first class..steering , dead easy. Tomorrow clutch, acceleration and brakes. Kinda fun but the only defect is that i gotta drive in a Maruti 800

finally finally finally........FINALLY!!!!!!!! I got my Engine Beds!!!! Yippy

Gonna get them fitted in 2 days and a bit of paint job and a new windshield and a bit of other small works and finally my Escort will be ready.

Guys i ahve decided that whatever car I am gonna buy next month....I am gonna surely fit in LPG Gas Kit, K&N High Performance Air Filter, Free Flow Exhaust, New ICE, 17" Alloys and a 205/40/17 Tires, donno about the make but will decide soon.

Some questions:

1. The tires.... which should I pick Yokohomas or something else? How much would they cost? Dont want to spend too much on these but want them to be really really ATTRACTIVE but at the same time not compromising on quality!!!

2. How much would the K&N cost? I heard that it increases the FE but what about acceleration and other performance specs?

3. Putting a free flow exhaust, how much cost and how will this effect my FE and performance specs like that of K&N???

4. A nice set of BLACK coated alloys ....cost? I dont wanted imported.

A mitsubishi lancer is one of the most delicious second buys at the moment. and with all those upgrades the car will look even more hot and will perform better. prices are usually 20k-30K shy of similarly equipped OHC.

OHC are good buys too. Depends on where you would wanna stop.

When I inquired for the same upgrades sometime ago. The total was around 75K approx.
