Should i bid goodbye to the Palio or not?

Hey guys,
we have a 2002 Palio 1.6 GTX and that has done 44000km. We also have a 1989 contessa that needs to be replaced as it needs some expensive repairs to be carried out and there is a constant lack of spares. The contessa is currently in dad's factory in Akola.
Now, we have a couple of options.
- Option 1
Send the Palio to Akola where it will be used for 15km a day for then next 3 - 4 years and maintainance will be so - so and get another car home like the Getz GLX which retails for 6,82,000 on road mumbai - company
- Option 2
Keep the Palio and use it for another year or two and buy the Getz CRDi when it is launched and buy a second hand car for around 3L which will be sent to the factory.
- Option 3
Keep the contessa running for another year or two and then decide.

Any other ideas/suggestions?
I am ok with Option 1 but am a bit worried about parting ways with the palio as i love it a lot though it makes the most sense. The replacement car need not be a performance car as it will be very limited in its use. The corolla is there as a performance car for when i get my license. It just needs wider/better tyres. And the Getz can always be made faster.
If we keep the Palio, we will have to spend on new tyres and a better ICE system shortly which won't be the case if it is sent to Akola.

Thanks

my choice is option 1, I think you should send the palio to factory and you should get your self a new car, maybe an accent ??? or a fiesta.. why getz.. its a nice car but kinda boring... if not wait for some time .. new hatches should come out... im hoping that swift sports comes out soon

Lambo....Your query is very subjective and the solution depends on your priorities, convenience, requirements etc. Personally i wouldn't send Palio to a remote location where service is hard to find and even a decent knowledged mechanic can't fix the car without right tool.

I would prefer to have cars like Indica, Indigo, Sumo or even an Ambassdor at remote locations. These vehicles can taking the beating with negligible maintenance and any road side mechanic can fix them.

Option 2 makes sense. At the factory you will need a workhorse of a car, which is easy to maintain and can be serviced there. Get an Indica and send it to Akola. Keep the Palio with you.

IMHO,
Sell the Contessa.
Buy a new Indica/Indigo for the factory.
Keep the Palio.

Option 2 makes the most sense. Like ssl2 & n_c said, get a used indica for your factory.
Good luck

Hey guys,
Thanks for your replies.
However, we have a tata Indigo in our factory in mumbai and it's quite sad a car and definately won't last as long.
Any other options guys?
My dad is keen on a new Getz however though i am a Palio person.
Thanks.

I am actually considering option 1 properly.
If we sell of the Palio, chances are that it will be even more neglected tehn it would be at our factory at Akola (where our Contessa's been running properly for 15 years).
Also, since the Palio was with us, we have never crossed 160 and 160 was only once and it would be the same with the new car.
Will talk to my dad about it. Let's see what he says.
Cheers guys,
Thanks

Hey guys,
after a lot of discussions, we have decided for option 2.
We are going to keep the Palio in Mumbai.
Cheers
