Re: Maruti Swift vs the others

I am contemplating on buying a new Swift VXI vs used Elite/Active i20. My budget is limited to 6.5 L- 7.25 L. Looking only for Petrol as usage is mostly city, with annual usage of 6-7K Kms.

Here is what each can give me:
New Swift VXI: (Mostly VXI with tyre upgrade, parking sensor, fog lamps)
* Fun-to-drive petrol, new dashboard/steering
* Better Engine, FE and maintenance
* Novelty of new car!

Used Active/Elite i20: (Looking only at Asta or Asta(O) variants)
* Stylish looks, premium interiors and better overall quality
* More equipment vis-à-vis Swift (touchscreen, alloys, 8 speaker, ACC)

Any advice on going for either ?

Re: Maruti Swift vs the others

I think at the moment the Ignis Zeta Petrol MT is the most VFM atleast in Delhi.

With the current discounts a Swift Vxi is 20k more than the Ignis Zeta. However, what you get more is rear defogger and wiper, 15 inch alloys and push button start with key-less entry. Other benefits include the same 1.2L K Series jewel in a car which has the best power to weight ratio among the ones listed and a higher ground clearance.

The other cars with similar features are priced much higher.

Close your eyes and go for the Swift Petrol. I have been driving this car for the last 6.5 years, and each time I am behind the wheel, I am smiling. The engine is a real cracker, at the same time reliable and fuel efficient. There is nothing in the market currently which makes me want to change this car (within my restricted budget of course).

The icing on the cake is that the new Swift is much lighter than the outgoing version, which makes for a far better power to weight ratio- resulting in a quick little car perfect as a city runabout. Upgrade your tyres to 195 sections and you are all set even for the occasional highway drives and corner carving sessions!

Re: Maruti Swift vs the others

My choice if petrol is Swift and if diesel, the Freestyle (although not mentioned here). If not for the high asking price and even more for maintenance and cramped seats, I would've blindly selected the Polo GT TDI even over Swift petrol.

Like someone said earlier Punto missing on the list is a sad thing. Not sure when they'll get their affairs right

Re: Maruti Swift vs the others

Experts,

I have a little Inquiry about Ignis & Swift.

While going through ‘Ride & Handling’ section of official reviews, I read that Ignis has a ‘standard McPherson strut suspension setup’ whereas Swift has ‘ubiquitous McPherson strut suspension setup’.

What is the difference between two?

Answer: Nothing!

It is plain word-play here by the writer, nothing more. Both cars have the same suspension type.

I would choose Jazz for the space it provides and CVT gearbox

Which car did you buy? Or is the decision still under scrutiny?

I haven't jumped the fence yet. But going for another hatchback is ruled out as I can only have a single car for all the duties. So the new probables are compact SUVs - Nexon, Creta (both Used), XUV 300 W6. The thought of a used Baleno RS still lingers cos of its practicality.
