Dippy has an OHC Auto. You should PM him for 1st hand info.

The 2 cars you've shortlisted are as different in their utility as in their categories. How abt consolidating your proper usage requirements first?

I agree. The two cars are poles apart. And did i say they run on different fuels?

I second that.

BTW you can contact mod Dippy who has recently bought a second hand OHC AT. There is a very nice review written by him in the review section.

Its a comparision between chalk and cheese. The Swift will always give you 15+ and the OHC will give you around 9+

One is a Auto the other a Manual.

One is brand New and the other almost 5 years old. I would say the Swift, going for a first hand car is alwayz better. If it was a Vtec then my opinion would surely be different.

man i just drool at OHC , now i have the money so i want it.

but since i can afford the swift VDi i am stuck ... coz of the 25 km fe and the diesel and maruti tag.
i have never had any1 close who had a honda so am scared about its maintainance costs , i have a esteem for 8-9 years and the maruti maintainance cost is none ..

so am stuck guys my usage is about 1200 kms per month in city only .

One is brand new car and another is 5 years old car so new car is always better, Mileage will be better in swift and maintanance cost will be higher in city.

I would say go for Swift.

My question why AT?
Since you have money hunt for MT Citys man. It might take some time but MT is better anyday, atleast you have the liberty to change the gears at what ever Rpm you feel.

For me MT City first and last option would have been Swift D.
No Vtecs available?

get a OHC , forget the swift..
because if you get a swift Im sure you will still be drooling over a OHC whenever it passes you on the road.
if you can wait and try to get a MT it will be even better..

KD - What is your annual usage? If it's not more than 20,000-30,000 kms then I don't see why you would spend 2-3L more on the Swift especially when your usage won't be able to justify it?

@ dippy - special thanks for all the time and gyan

@F50 - i have been lookn for a VTech OHC for 3-4 months couldnt find a good one,i have found this mint condition AT OHC at my home town that too for 300k.well i dnt feel like spending more than 350k on a used car.

@iragava - my annual usage would not exceed 15-20000 km coz my 8 year esteem has clock has again gone back to 4790 that is 99999 + 4700 kms in 8 years .

i love an OHC but my only concern is that the bigger and costlier the car the more costly are its spares thats what i have and idea.

FOR swift
1.new car
2.diesel + maruti tag ( i have a wonderful experience own a esteem for 8 years no headaces !)
3. i cant convince my mom to buy a OHC for 3 lakhs !! ( she thinks a new car is always better .. )

FOR OHC -
1 i just love and admire a OHC ( if its dirty i feel like lickn it and cleaning it)
2.the big car feeling
3.dream car for years .

against OHC -
1.i can buy a new diesel car
2.scared of owning a big car.
3.cant convince my financer ( my mom)

against swift

1. i dnt like the way it looks !! ( space ship look )

Glad you liked the Honda KD. Its a nice car to own. Settle down on a car soon otherwise you will render yourself confused since you have already chosen many options before. Good luck!

A natural upgrade from the esteem would be the OHC. go for it & enjoy.
