Dont know if if this is authentic confirmation but according to the concorde dealer dude in blr, the 1.6 engine is imported. "I asked if it is and he said yes and i asked if that would be a concern for replacements etc - he said no. "
HTH
Why dont you go for the retro?
Its a beast, along with solid build(better than stile), better looks (love the retro headlamps), and boss if you replace the alfa romeo alloys with some hot alloys and rubber, the plaio retro is gonna look HOT. Whatever money you save on the retro from stile, use that to get alloys, wider rubber and ICE
i just finished the paperwork for a 1.6 sport... took it for a TD and i felt great... suspension is genius as is the transmission. It cost 4.7 all incl here in madras... 15 day delivery i was told.. really waiting!

Possibly because regardless of imported or local Fiat always have a problem for spares! That remains a constant.
However, it certainly is a very good car and I would heartily recommend it.
Finally FIAT is offering 1.6 sport in ALL COLURS!!. Went to SHAMAN for TD. BUT 1.6 was not available for TD!. So took TD of 1.1 SLX. Lot of surprises for me: Low end torque is great. Can do 15kmph in third!. AC is superb( TD was done at 2.PM). Cooled very quickly. The AC is also very silent in fan speed of 1,2 and 3. Engine is very silent. Now I am deciding between 1.1 SLX and 1.6 Sport. My driving style is very sedate and 95% in Mumbai. Features of 1.1 SLX and 1.6 sports are almost same. If I can put 1.6's alloys & tyres on SLX it will be great.
The reports of SLX owners on this forum is encouraging.
The discounts offered: 13K dealer discount + 4% finance discount
Pl advice!
Which TATA/FIAT dealer in Mumbai is best form Afetr Sales Service angle?

Nice going cartech. From an A.S.S. point of view it should be Shaman I guess. Have got some work done by Fortune (powai) and Wasan (Govandi). They were okay. Don't expect a wow from them though.
The main difference 1.1 and 1.6 is its number itself. 1.1 is 1100cc car where are 1.6 is 1600 cc there is huge huge difference :-)
If you want mileage then 1.1 is for you.
But if you are looking for a fun, pleasure, pride then 1.6 with 100horses for you.
Go for 1.6 you will never regret. Now with TATA the A.S.S is also pretty good.
Folks,
Finally, my 1.6 red giant is coming home on Saturday ! I need a serious bit of advice from you all though. I plan to drive down to Pondy next weekend. Are there any points I need to keep in mind considering that it would just be a 100kms old ? Do I need to maintain the speed at any specific band ? Please advice !

No worries dude, just keep it within the 2500 rpm band though occasional bursts to higher rpms wont hurt either. Also when changing gear, take each gear up to the rev limit, say 2500 rpm in your case and dont drive at constant speeds for too long, keep varying the speed by using gears, use engine breaking, basically the idea is to let the engine gel at varying rpm's and varying speeds in each gear.
Congrats in advance for your buy.... Enjoy the drive!

I always felt our S10 was quicker than a GTX, i felt it was just psychological as i love it so much:D.
Now i know that it was actually so and not my imagination.

Now for the -ves of the shorter ratios.
1) On the faster expressways, you cannot stay in a gear for a long time. You have to upshift at relatively lower speeds - see the table.
Even downshifting has to be calculative. If at speeds above 150-160 km/h, I downshift to 4th, I'll end up over cooking the engine and it will end in the far end of the rev band.So the GTX would probably be a bit more relaxed at these speeds.
2) If I stay in the 4th for long, it would affect my FE. So I have to be in 5th most of the times on the highways.
But I think these ratios suit the car's sporty character though and should have been provided on the GTX as well. |
agree:
I want to share an interesting finding here! well our S10 gives a FE 2 kmpl lesser when i drive it than when my dad drives, though i am not much faster than him!
now i know the reason why........i tend to stick to 4th gear a lot more than my dad does. used to think that both 4th & 5th are overdriven,so will not cause much change in FE (though i did notice that vehicle is very responsuve to throtle input in 4th as compared to 5th)
will have to keep that in mind from now on.

I think the difference in FE between the 1.1 and 1.6 would be less than 1 kmpl. We shouldnt forget that the 1.1 has pull a tank that weighs a ton. 1.6 would be pretty relaxed with the nice torgue available at low revs whereas the 1.1 will haved to be revved a little.

Well within City Limits you would be right. I guess the 1.6 should easily give 11km/l and the 1.1 would stick around 12-13km/l. But on highways while the 1.6 would stick to around 15-16. I think the 1.1 would go upto 18km/l. So the Overall Difference would just be one or two kilometers here and there. But the psychological factor would make you think that its drinking. Espacially if you see the fuel needle fall from the full to half mark. It will really scare you the first time you experience that:Shockked:.

You got those numbers so right.
My 1.6 Stile is giving me a 9.6/11 kmpl in city with AC on/off respectively.
Were as on Highway it returened 15/16 with Ac on/off respectively
I think in highway for a 1.6 15/16 is good.1.6 is a powerful engine anyway.What the dealer told me 1.1 get 20km/L in highway.haha
