'04 Fiat Palio El Ps, Showroom Piece

Friends
I was just curious since the old Fiat dealership had closed down/changed brands but I have been seeing Two new Palios at the showroom being displayed proudly. As a normal query , i asked the Price and have been haggling for a week nowI am posting the details of both vehicles
along with the Price,

1. Palio EL PS 2004, Orange 2.25 lakhs
2. Palio NV non PS, 2005 silver 2.25 lakhs

Pls advise whether is deal worth the money???

Cheers

Uhuh... not at all. In fact a 3 year old car standing still all this while may have developed corrosion in some vital parts. The gaskets and rings may give way soon. Tyres would have hardened... there can be many problems. A well maintained and regularly driven car of the same vintage may prove to be a better bet than a 3 year old stationary car.

Nope, wouldn't even recommend touching one with a 20ft. pole! If they've been standing for 3 years there has to be a story behind them otherwise the dealer would've sold them off by now. Avoid, like the plague.

And in any case what Zappo said is bang on, after being stationery for the better part of 3 years they are going to be nothing but trouble for you to run.

Tempting price but an avoidable deal. The car must have seen 3 seasons of the rain and sunshine. It could also have been a test drive car.I've anyways never seen a single Palio test drive car with any sort of 'test drive' sticker or graphics on them.If the cars were a year old, they could still be considered.

List of potential problems
1. Electricals chewed by rats
2. Gaskets etc., hardned
3. Fuel pipe rubber damaged
4. Fuel pump deteriorated
5. Rust
6. Suspension damage
7. Tyre damage.
8. Injector gumming
10. Fuel tank rust issues

If you are lucky you will spend only around 40,000rs and have a car which is brand new.
If you are unlucky....... <scary movie music playing>.

Run away from cars that are gathering dust for so long. Life is not Back to the future and the Palio us not a nuclear powered DeLorean, so no luck in finding a old car and seeing it working as good as new!

Boss, cars are meant to be driven. No one is going to put a car on show and not sell it unless they are either stupid or the car has a problem. For example, RNS sells all TD cars within a specific km range, and all display vehicles are also sold, and replaced. Stay far, far away.

Everyone is pointing out the correct thing, rohit. Plus if you ask closely the cars will come without a warranty as well. So keep distance.

Do they inform the buyer about it or does it go to unsuspecting buyers ?

Most true dealers would and should inform the buyer about it. In fact they sell these cars with prior info to the customer that it has been TD'd by cutomers, driven some 20k kms or so... will come with such and such type of service/guarantee etc. However, some dealers may try to pawn off such pieces to the unsuspecting ones... the types who remove the speedo wires for TD vehicles. However in such cars also, the knowledgeable ones will know the fishy facts sooner than later. If not anything check the year and month of manufacture. Anything older than a month is a bit of a suspect. Anything more than 2.5 months has definitely had a story behind it.
