Guys! Thanks for the response...

Need two more things from u guys:

1. Comparision of FE between 1.6 SWIFT vxi?
I hear 1.6 will give about 9.5 in city and swift gives about 12.5 in city (both fig. with AirCon on) is it true?

2. What about cost of spares?

How much do a Oil filter, Petrol filter, Air filter and front brake pads, rear brake shoes cost on either of the machines?

Finally I think the only car that fits the bill is the SWIFT petrol for me
You got that one right.

1. Hear that maruti spares are cheaper than others such as Hyundai? iS it true?
Not very.

Quote:
2. Can i bargain for accessories with dealers? what all should i be able to squeeze out?
Generally you will get about 7k worth accessories, try to fit what you want in that.

3. Should i wait a little more until the fundu cars from FIAT are out? ANy ideas when they'll be out? I was expecting the Punto or the Palio D with the EJT. In that case, i'm willing to wait
Not really worth it until they start providing some service.

5. Is it cheaper to buy it outside Bangalore and then get it in, so that i can save some more money?

DEFINITELY NOT !!!!

Go for the Swift, with eyes closed. If you want a second option look at the Chevy UVA.

While you're about it you may also want to consider the Getz.

Hey bro,
firstly, are you buying the Swift with ABS?
Because then it does make more sense to get the swift otherwise I would still vote for the Palio 1.6.
As for the price of regular wear and tear items, i would suggest you check with the Authorised dealers as they would be able to help ypu out the best.

Palio 1.6 if you want pure performance, Swift if you want good after sales support.
Also consider that Palio 1.6 does not have good resale value (if at all)

but heres my 2 cents: ya to ladki dekh ke shaadi kar lo, ya fir family dekh ke.

Hey, any specific problems you are facing with your swift ? I know Esteem is a reliable machine but my sis Swift Petrol has been going strong without much maintainence.

Well, you have only two choices, Swift or Palio. If I were you, I'd buy a Swift diesel and spend a little extra to make it look good. 15" alloys with Advan Neovas, a nice tint job, some nice ICE, Pete's box. Sigh...

FE of Palio 1.6 and Swift is almost same:
Palio 1.6 : 10 - 11 kmpl in City
Swift : 10 - 12 kmpl

Spares: As per the Spares Cost Survey done by AutoCar in Oct/Nov'2006, Swift spares costs the highest in its segment, even higher than Palio 1.6!

Boss, I have extensively driven Palios in Bangalore. The best I got was 10 kmpl and the worst was something like 3 or 4. I've also extensively driven Swifts in Bangalore and have never gone below 13 kmpl.

Boss, I can also say that I got the vice-versa for Swift and Palio too!

The figures I have quoted is the average FE that BHPians who own Palio / Swift have reported on the very forum!
If not convinced, please do a search & get back!

Man, what sort of ridiculous argument is that? I've even owned an Esteem which gave 14 kmpl in BLR, and that's the same engine BTW.

I understand you like your car. We all do. But seriously, when someone points out something lacking, please don't get anal about it. I know the Baleno has an ugly rear, and I'll be the first to admit it.

If that is true, please admit that Palio 1.6 Sports is a far superior car than Swift!!!

Will you?

I know, I won't. I consider them to be quite on par, but I'm not so sure about the "far superior" bit.
