Udit, What appears to be Cost Minimization priority, then opt for the Ikon CNG- It will save you considerable amount of money on Gas and Maintainence.

If you're looking for aesthetic appeal and good drive engine, although compromising on the Cost factor- Then Swift is a good choice- Although not the very best in the Diesel segment.

CNG will remain cheaper considerably compared to Diesel and Petrol, which depend on International Crude Rates, On the other hand CNG is cheaper all over the world, Has proven cost and Maintainence benefits + The Worlds Largest Gas Find is " Krishna Godavri Basin"..Gas will remain cheaper and more Fuel efficient.

Go for the Swift.
The Ikon is an amazng car but in CNG form, it loses some of its pep. Also resale value of the Ikon is low and it should be going out of production in a year or two.

I agree with the CNG part here, although i havemt driven it in this avatar.
As for the being phased out part, i dont think Ford is going to shoot themselves in the foot doing that. Not when the Ikon Flair is becoming popular among cab operators, and also not as long as the Esteem continues in its present avatar. Ikon Flair is the only Ford coming with the factory fitted CNG option and also with the presence of the Logan and the Accent GLE dont expect a quick demise.

DISCLAIMER : All this from my logic, and not from any insider info.

I would rate Swift D better Ikon CNG for the following -

1. Great Low end Torque. It will beat Ikon petrol too
2. High range - A tank full will last for at least 750 KM (I have done 800 + once)
3. High resale value of Maruti compared to Ford
4. Easy availability of Diesel vis-a-vis CNG.
5. Easily accessible MASS compared to ford service shops.
6. proven Diesel technology vis-a-vis CNG.

So go for Swift D
