If you are looking for a car mainly for driving on highway and ghats sections and less in city, Santro is not that ideal car.
It is one of the best cars in it's segment when you drive mostly in city and occasional highway and ghats.
I do drive my Santro, mostly/only in Bangalore and so called occasional long drives not less than 350 to 450 kms in a day to my native - once in 3 months, mostly with 4 people on board. Have no complaints or issues except the limited boot space to allow us to carry enough luggages of 4 people for a week's stay.
I do not expect more power, when it reaches easily to 100kmph (on stock) , which is already a not so safe speed for a small car.

For the ghats, opt for WagonR.
Pardon my ignorance, would you please explain how Wagon R is better on ghats?
(My experience with WagonR is limited on highways and ghats.)
