Want to Buy PALIO 1.2 NV - Updated : Now bought

Hi Guys,
Need HELP!!!
Am from Kolkata and want to buy either a new PALIO 1.2NV EL PS or ELX.
But the problem is :
1. Fiat India has a history of bad After Sales
2. Their existing dealer in Kolkata is not any more official and Fiat is supposed to get a new dealer here...but this I have been hearing for last 6-7mnths

Now I need a help...can anyone help me get info directly from Fiat h.o about their strategy in Kolkata ? I had been trying to get in touch with them over phone entire last week, but was unable to contact the right person!

And I keep hearing that fiat India is mending their ways...is it true?
The Fiat numbers I have are : 022-25097113/7115

Thnx for yr help.

Your concern is shared by thousands of Indian B-segment customers, and thats why Fiat is still not selling more than 800 - 1000 Palios a month. Compare that to the Altos, Santros and Indicas which have exceeded the 8000/month sales mark.

Yes, Fiat is trying to mend its ways, but its easier than it sounds. If there is no authorised dealer in Calcutta - Wait. If you are in urgent requirement, just go pick up something else.

Yes Fiat is trying to mend its ways but still has a lot of ground to cover .

No doubt as a product the NV is the best of the B segment lot today.
you could try the Fiat India site and pick up numbers from there . These guys do respond to mails occasionally.

web site is www.fiat-india.com

Hi GTO,
Thnx for your comments. But guess just would hold on for 2 more mnths for the BULL.
I had checked out all the B seg cars, and Palio is the one I want to go for...mainly because I do a lot of highway driving, and have done that on Santro/Zen/Palio...I found Palio to be the most steady one (in this segment ofcourse).

The new 1.6 petra is also a good option .u can have the superb 1.6 which has been discontinued in the palio.
or even pick up a palio 1.6 or the S10 at throwaway prices if the dealer around ur city has one.

Hi Speedsatya,
Yeps....I got your point, but the problems are:
-my wife wants to go for a new car!! (no 2nds)
-I dont want to go for diesel.
-Reg S10... the first point (even if its S10!!)

Guys, I have got my NEW PALIO....albeit 1.2,,color - Passion Red,, a great car though.

I had been lazy about posting the info (1 month old already)but THANKS to Team-BHP for all the suggestions ..direct or indirect (thru various posts ) in helping me zeroing on in a good B seg car.

Mine was a jump from M800 to 1.2NV.
The car looks great, feels great (definately with some negatives..but who's perfect anyway).
Have clocked apprx 1100kms in a month...and car is due for 1st service in another 20days or 400kms..whichever is first.

Will pot a review later.

THANKS AGAIN TBhp !!

Hi Grishn,
Yeps...they have opened up a new dealership in Kolkata... VAHAN MOTORS.

They have also got the Auth. service centre contract.
These people were A.S.S for Tata motors....now they are doing for Fiat. At the moment their service seems good..only time will tell.

Infact I took my car for getting the Central lock fitted after a week of use and infmd them that I was not feeling comfortable with the idle engine speed (since I was new to the bigger car after driving 800 for 3yrs.) They immediately checked out the problme with their gadget and best part was that they called me also and showed me the readings. Two minor errors were rectified immdtly.
