The Sante Fe will be launched by February next year according to Overdrive, so i guess it makes sense to wait. The Koleos is also supposed to receive a few tweaks as per Autocar.

Love the way Santa Fe looks. I wonder what kind of price it'll be launched at. I hope it's launched in feb itself so the wait is worth it.

Any updates on when and if the CRV diesel is coming out ?

Honda City has got the diesel heart so the next scoop or thread to be on fire will be the Honda CRV with a diesel heart. Hope they don't put the same 1.5L I-DTEC. Expecting a 2L diesel for it.

Also considering the Volvo XC60 Is anyone aware of any good deals on Volvo XC60?
It just struck me that we've been discussing this in the wrong place. This one is for hatches.
We should move the discussion to SUVs, MUVs & 4*4s.

I checked out the car (not driven) here in Singapore last month. The car felt very European with its good quality interiors. The 3rd row is tight, but overall the car looked to be well packaged.

Re: Which car to buy???

I am looking to replace my 15 year old Fiat Uno with another hatch. Requirements as follows:
  • Petrol hatch with a peppy engine
  • 80:20 use for City:Highway
  • Fully loaded with all equipment
  • Reliable vehicle, good service
  • Manual, not auto

Based on this I am considering the following:
  • New Swift (July?)
  • New Punto (June?) with 1.4 petrol engine
  • Tata Bolt (July?) with 1.2 Revoton engine
  • Etios Cross 1.5 petrol
  • Hyundai Grand i10 1.2 petrol

My assessment are as follows:
  • Swift : Proven & easy decision to make, but too common
  • Punto: Superb looks, handling, feel inside the car, engine so-so
  • Tata Bolt : Dark horse, spacious, waiting for TD reports
  • Etios Cross: Quirky looks but good engine, handing & comfort
  • Grand i10: Good city car to drive, better than swift in many ways, but boring looks

My IDEAL car would have been a Polo 1.2 TSI but with a manual tranny... alas :(

Request your feedback & comments. I have a couple of months to decide, I can wait for the new models to come.

Polo TSi?

If not, then Swift. However, be warned that the 1.2K series motor needs a little wringing to work in the city.

i20 top end as of now. Best build quality and load to features. Nothing beats it. And since mostly you need it for city, I wont recommend Punto/Swift, as i20 is leagues ahead in terms of feature/comfort/interiors.

Polo TSi is awesome, but I dont want an Auto tranny, prefer manual. Wish they had one in the market.

Yes, both Swift & Grand i10 though good petrol engines need revving.

I was in a similar dilemmna myself, did a lot of research and almost finalized on the Grand i10 for its novelty factor and long feature list.

But then came the Xcent. For a slightly higher price then the Grand, what i was getting was a decent mid size sedan with features like rear ac vents, electrically adjustable and foldable mirrors, bluetooth, audio controls on steering wheels and what nots - all this even in the middle variant!

I Finally booked the Xcent S model petrol. It fits all your requirements to the T. Have a Test drive.

We already have a Chevy Aveo at home, so this one has to be a hatch.

I have driven the i20 Diesel, pretty good but I want a petrol hatch, I did not TD that. Will have to look up how it performs.

Re: Which car to buy???

The Hyundais aren't very fun to chuck around and i20 has had steering issues that niggle the car till date. Unfortunately, most of today's na petrol hatches, are a pain to drive in the city due to their lack of bottom end grunt; Brio, Swift, Micra etc. If you can, try and source a 1.6 petrol Fabia as I see that to be the only hatchback to truly fit your requirements.

If hatchback is not a must, then look no further than a 1.6 Ford Fiesta Classic

cheers!

i20 Petrol I think is one of the most refined engines. But I don't think its as peppy as the K-Series. Since you needed majorly for city commute, I suggested the Hyundai. It surely defines the segment in terms of comfort and refinement.

You read me right I have a Chevy Aveo that we bought when a Ford Fiesta was an option, but we love it. Its quite peppy and drivable too.

Etios Cross Petrol, Punto 1.4 & Tata Bolt Revotron have 80+ HP engines and possibly good bottom end grunt too - hence my interest in these more than the others.
