I guess brake assist = brake booster in this case.

Not at all! ABS will be useful only where a possibility of wheel lock can occur.

Thanked: Once

So here is my 1600 Km experience with Swift VDI with ABS.

It might help you decide between ZXĮ, VDĮ, VDI+ABS.

Noise: Considerably less than Indica, but definately noisier than petrol cars.
One can hear the humming sound of the diesel all the time.

Driveability: excellent. The car is a breeze to drive and i enjoyed the pickup with the whoosh sound when the turbo kicked in. BUT
overtaking at 3rd gear at slow speeds(30) was a bit of a problem,
either you have to shift to lower gear or simply wait for the turbo to kick in (its called turbo lag?)
But once the turbo kicks in at around ~2000 rpm, the car surges ahead with excellent pickup.

ABS: hmm I will never come to know whether or not ABS helps!
First Instance: Once cruising on NH4 at 80-90, suddenly the road disappeared and a big pothole was in front of me. I braked hard and simultaneously steered away from the pothole. The car behaved very well and i feel that ABS helped by not locking my tyres and i could steer away from the pothole.
Second Instance: while coming back from Gokarna, the infamous NH17 (famous for VERY bad roads and rash bus drivers) i braked hard in a straight linė. To my astonishmeņt the wheels locked this timė!

FE: EXCELLENT! I got 18kmpl on bad roadş with Diesel

Swift VDI with ABS: Worth the wait? I waited for 4 months for my dream car and i think it was worth the wait.

Comparing ZXI with VDI, he only thing that my car doesńt have now is Auto climate control and airbagş.

Booked a ZXI

Hey guys, finally decided to go with a red ZXI. Waiting period is around a month and I booked it around 2 weeks back. The car should be here before new years! It was a tough decision as it is with any car purchase but I thought the extra features included in the ZXI version was worth it. Thanks for all the suggestions! I will surely post up the pics once I take delivery!

Swift P :::>> GO !! for it

mlal Ji,
Swift P has got all that Swift D has, it just how you caress it.
Swift P with K&N on the Air Filter plus K&N Oil filter can make you 99.9% near to the Swift D. (Noise less, Hatch Cruiser = Swift P)
I have done it and, yes those extra 9k for the filters look meagre to me after the thulping I do over it.

I own both cars... Swift P and Esteem... Let me summarize my feelings:

Manouverability: Esteem (fits between cars easily thanks to its width)
Initial Pickup till 80 kmph: Esteem
Stability and grip: Swift (feels much more planted)
Cornering: Swift (again thanks to weight)
Top End: Swift (Esteem has strong mid range but struggles at over 100 speed)

I find Esteem better in City, more comfy suspension, lighter, and easier to manouver. On empty stretches, curves, I miss the Swift's top end, harder suspension also makes it much easier to throw around the corners.

Both cars wont let you down one bit thats for sure....

LOL Just saw this is an ancient thread... well no point deleting my post nonetheless as arguments are still valid for a prespective buyer.
