confused between Getz D & Swift D

hey guys....
i am planning to buy a diesel hatch and i have gone through the details of both the getz D and the swift D. but when i ask my frnds about it...some say go for the swift D and some say go for the Getz D which is too confusing.
but i am more inclined towards the getz cause of the brilliant 1.5 CRDI VGT engine which pumps out a whopping 109 BHP which is the same engine they give in the Verna..price for me isnt the issue...the only point which i want to give emphasis on is that i am going to keep which ever car i buy for atleast 5 years and so i dont want to make any mistake in taking a decision. please help me out guys!!!

if you can afford the getz why not? the engine though is not as refined as the swift is much more powerful and quicker. the build quality of the getz is also far superior. it wont have any rattles in the 5 years you plan to keep the car. also make sure you get wider tyres etc.

Both are good cars with brilliant engines!

Swift scores in its handling and cornering ability while Getz is scorcher in straight line!

Apart from that Getz has better cabin insulation and overall better built. It is also more expensive. I own a Getz 1.3 and the car is solid.

FE should hardly be a concern as here. Personally i would go for the getz for the simple reason its FAST!

If you plan to do a lot of highway driving Getz might be a better bet..in city its a even match and depends on TEST DRIVE!!

Do update us when you make the final choice

GETZ: High price, greater stability, but less resale,Heavy engine noise.

Swift VDI: good VFM,better resale value, low engine noise, smooth suspension.
decide the factors that u r comfortable.

Hi Kausu,

Both the cars are good and backed by good service network. You will not regret buying any of these two.
In the looks department, I personally prefer Getz .

As you are buying a diesel, I would ask you to check for NVH levels on both the cars. They will increase overtime with use and may be problematic to some people.

Also Hyundai car's USUALLY(not always) are not drivers cars. WHile the engine is excellent, the car doesnt really make full use of the engine's potential. Swift infact complements the Fiat motor like a knife in butter.

And for the price I would suggest you get swift and spend the saved money on a nice ice system and better tyres.

The swift D is an out & out driver's car.
The Getz D is like an american muscle car-ish . A lot of power with more interior space.

From the money u save from buying a swift diesel u can get wider tyres/alloys+petes tuning box.U get handling + power that way.Although not 110 bhp but then somewhere close
Swift all the way

Buy Swift if space is not a problem. If you need more power, then you could add a Pete's box to it (with the savings you make) and it should pretty good. but may not be as good Getz which is a Verna engine.

The engine in Swift is a cracker and the handling is also good. But the build quality is bad. I do not like the looks from the back and the back seat is cramped and claustrophobic.

Getz is better of the two. It has got space, power, build quality and gives feeling of a sedan. But it sells at a premium considering the lack of features. I would recommend to wait until the ABS version gets launched.

If you want more space, and price is not an issue then Getz D is a no brainer.
However if you are looking for VFM swift D makes more sense.

This must be the dumbest question here-

Whats the waiting period for a TD of the Getz? The situation here is that, its ungetzable! Not even a display car YET!

The answer is simple. dont getz it. :P

And swiftly go to the maruti's. Getz is certainly not new enough for the dealer to not have test drive car.
