thanks quite and experience vasanth; thank God you had the thought to take along your friend and best that he was a person from the travel industry!

one word of advice if going for second hand - never never never rush for a buy. take your time; check and recheck and recheck again. Once the deal is done, its done.

Took test drive for both Spark and Alto.

Spark is better, no doubt about that. 1 Liter engine helps and it feels easier to drive.

But are you sure difference is just 30k?

In Mumbai, Alto LX is 3.25 L (On road) (Maruti Alto LX Price, Finance, Specification | Buy Maruti Alto LX Mumbai India - Infibeam.com)

Spark is: 3.9 L (On road)
(Chevrolet Spark 1.0 Base Price, Finance, Specification | Buy Chevrolet Spark 1.0 Base Mumbai India - Infibeam.com)

Thats difference of 65k, substantial amount for a card in 3 - 4L range.

The price difference was 30K for PS version (Power steering ,AC) when 50K discount was announced . Again with the yesterday Advt. of reduced price for Spark, the difference from Alto would not be more than 40-42K.

yes sir... looking at second hand cars...
I also tried driving a friends Alto last evening and ended up having a scratch on the left side near the bumper... felt bad:( damaging my friend's new car... will somehow make up for it... but for now, it is second hand car until I have the confidence to drive comfortably in Bangalore's traffic!
