Which One? 2005 Zen or 2004 Santro Xing

Hi
I am in a total stalemate. This is my first car. I have shortlisted 2 used cars. A zen Lxi, 05.2005 make, 31000 kms, good condition, single owner, 2.70 lakhs. It is from a maruti true value shop. 1 year warranty and 4 free services (yes I negotiated for 1 extra)
The second car is Santro Xing XP, 12.2004 make, 16000 kms, good condition, single owner, 2.65 lakhs. This is from a private seller who has rarely used it. He doesn't have a stereo or speaker system so I guess another 10k can be added to the cost.

I will be using the car for only 2 years and then sell it. My usage will be 7K yearly.

Unable to decide because I like the looks of zen but I guess the santro cost is value for money. What do you say?

Help please

Both are good choices but over priced at least 20,000/-. If they have good accessories and are in good condition then its worth paying extra 20,000/-

Santro is very good for city and highway use and its Tall design make easy for few people to get in and out easily especially back seat.

ZEN on other hand is very good car except for very low cramped seating position compared with Santro.

Both are easy to drive and park. ZEN will give you better FE (2 km extra). Finding space parts next 10 years no issue.

Decide based on which you like tall design Santro or Small Cute design like ZEN.

Regards,

Ravi.

I honestly feel the Santro is a better buy. Its done less kms and the Zen is discontinued. Get the Santro, bargain a bit if you can.

I too think that the Santro is a better buy. There have been users on the forum who have had not-so-happy experiences with branded used cars.

if you are a sober driver, want a car to ferry family/friends, the santro is unbeatable.

On the other hand , if you like to have a little bit of fun with your car, and will be driving solo mostly, i think the zen will be more rewarding.

The zen is still overpriced. be wary about bargaining with true value. I heard that they change the parts to compensate for the value loss . maybe others can confirm this ?

I can negotiate the Santro to 2.61 L (A dealer has offered him 2.6 L).

ZEN , I can't negotiate as MTV quoted 2.95 L and I brought it to 2.7 L with an extra free service.

I am gutted to know that the ZEN is expensive by 20000. It has a pioneer music system (cd), central lock , alloy wheels. Damn good looking in a prisitine white.

What shall I do?

No brainer! Get the Santro! The price you were quoted is just too much.

My colleague was quoted 1.1lac for his old Zen.

OT
I can sell you my Xing for a nice price too.

Go for the Zen... You'll never regret your decision if the car has been well maintained

Go for Santro... since you are not planning to keep it for long

But i feel you can surely negotiate the price with its owner...tell him about the deal from maruti true value and he will listen i guess

Undoubtedly the Santro. Its a far better hatch than the outdated and cramped ol' Zen. Plus the Santro in question has half the mileage of the Zen.

As it always happens by this time sLIVER80 will be one confused soul and to help you , i would suggest zen anyday if you are planning any mods and even if not or so in the future but its overpriced as well.
