My vote goes for Getz CRDI as it is an all rounder. It has both power, mileage and with petes it is a monster.

One more suggestion - Why dont you wait for Hyundai i20 which has all the goodies because with power you also need to have ABS, EBD, airbags for safety.

i know the revs on the diesels are a something to think about, but then again its an experiment too inviting - the getz crdi sells with all 4 discs and independent suspension in aussie so there is hope to stiffen and stabilize the car

on the other hand the tc'd swift is going to give you more satisfaction after all the work you put in and ofcourse rev happy

whenever the i20 comes out, getz crdi will cease production and do we think that the i20 will have the same 1.5crdi or crdt engine, i think not. Hyundai has plonked the 1.5 crdi in the getz just as a stop gap to get the impatient people who hate the swift diesel waiting periods. As soon as they have a 1.1 crdi and 1.3 crdi, gone will be their hatch with 1.5crdi. Hyundai is not into performance hatches they just accidentally came out with one!!

Wow, I always thought the Diesel fans dominate here . But the poll result so far shows we have some petrol heads, who remains silent but always love petrol at any cost. Voted for Petrol swift.

As of now the swift petrol, zen and getz crdi seem to be front runners. An old zen can be had for real cheap, but again with an old car reliability becomes an issue. Maruti true value indicates a 70,000kms run 2002 model zen vxi for 2.35 lacs whereas a swift vxi/zxi 2006 model with 30000 odd kms costs 4/4.7 lacs. Given those numbers, I think it makes more sense to go for a reliable new swift and then mod it in phases - stage 1 chipped, stage 2 tc'd

can someone confirm if atleast on paper a peted getz crdi has more torque and bhp than a reliably (read 5-6psi) tc'd swift petrol
Is there ever going to be a swift sport 2 door launched (like zen carbon) with the 1.6 ltr vvt engine
the fiat 500 looks good, but on paper its going to be launched with a small 70bhp engine in india and cost 12+ lacs

What can you do to a Swift D except for adding a Pete's box?

Personally, I prefer the concept of adding a plug-and-play "magic box" to increase power reliably with all engine-systems running well within their tolerances, rather than any mechanical modifications that might take them towards the upper limit of tolerance. With that said, I would choose any of the diesel hatches mentioned above.

Rahul. IMO SRV is the best looking hatch. There is no need to modd it up.

I also feel the same. New age diesels with the tuning box make a perfect wolf in a sheep's clothing.. Reliable and fast.

MAG / KPZ - agree with your points. But here, I think, the question is different. 'Souped up most' means he is open to any mods and he want the most. Then petrol engine has the upper hand, right? I voted thinking this.
