Which car to buy - Budget 3.5 ex-showroom

Hi,

One of my friends wants to buy a car under 3.5 lacs (ex-showroom). He is buying it under a company scheme where Road tax, insurance etc are being paid by the company.

His requirements are:
- The car should have an AC and Power steering.
- Minimum maintanance
- Good resale value
- Easy to drive (he has just learnt driving)

I was suggesting an Alto. But I think the options are Alto, Spark (with AC and Power Steering), Indica DLS.

Any suggestions?

If Santro is greater than 3.5 lac, then it should be spark. Satisfies all requirements except resale. But Indica petrol also doesn't command good resale.

For his criteria, you can increase the choices to WagonR, i10, Santro. I would not choose Alto as his budget is more and for 3.5L ex-showroom, you will get the above cars comfortably. If he increases the budget slightly, he can try for swift. But I would prefer to stick for MSIL or Hyundai as the A** and resale value is better off compared to their counterparts in GM/Tata/Fiat.

TD all the cars then decide on the above.

Cediafan : There are 2 cars coming in that budget from MSIL stable.
Splash & A-star. If your friend can wait he can opt for one of those.
If he needs a car urgently he should opt either for the i10 or stretch the budget and opt for the Swift Lxi.

After checking production image of A-star I'm really upset....... Very big difference in looks, first car which they showed at AUTO EXPO was very sexy one...

Splash? when it will launch ? next year?
