How (un)safe is i10 - has kpzen posted any pics? He seems to be living close to a Hyundai service center - no offence bro.
I doubt hyundai will be exporting i10 if it had issues with EPS. They would be sue'd left right and center abroad if it can be proved that EPS is unsafe.

So i would say dont worry about ppl blaming EPS for their accidents and go ahead an buy a car that you like.

Some discussion on i10's safety.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/hatchb...10-unsafe.html

I guess its pretty safe. But its another matter that minor prangs may cause major damage to the wallet !!

I would say go with SX4 or even Indigo CS (Dicor?) .. It doesnt sound rational that you rule out an entire range of cars just because its made by TATA.

@SB: Even dZire ZXi is tough to manage. Its an understatement to say that current scenario is crazy.

@Eddy: Fully agree. And i10's safety/package is good - but the steering is bad. I'd daresay the Alto has a better EPS at 100-110 from my limited experience.

@StopMe: GetzD/ABS? Not as per Safardajung Hyundai/orion!

@LLL: Its just dead/zero feeling in i10 at 100+ . _I_ feel unsafe.

@Spadival: A sales guy who spends 20+ days on tour does not wish to spend half of the rest visiting TA.S.S. Or worse, have madam visit it, and keep hearing about tata service for as long as one keeps the car!

That is correct, Getz CRDI costs 6.4 lacs OTR in Hyd, and does not have ABS or Airbags.

Hi!

If the lady doesnt mind, go for a certified pre-owned santro for city use. Breeze to drive and park. A good specimen should cost less than 2lacs. Once she is comfy with driving and has got over all the nicks she can upgrade to a i10 or whatever is available at that time.

A Swift LDi / Fiesta Sxi for you to do duty on the mountains/highways.

cheers!

Great all-round visibility, superb handling and 190mm GC, so a little on the rugged side.
Might fall in your price range; resale is a concern, though.

Otherwise the Swift Zxi. SX4 might feel too big for a lady.

The Swift ZXi is the best option as ballkey has suggested..
Good After Sales Support / Service
Spares available quite easily
Great looks so looks will not be a drawback
The vehicle sticks to your budget a least a bit
Quite well refined
It wont be replaced by a another car in the near future too
Resale should also not be a concern

@ LS- Seems like you having a big confusion. Since your bugdet is 5-7 lacs you can opt for the Swift Zxi over the i10 top end. Swift Zxi will have all the bells and whistles. Since you not very specific about Diesel i think as of now Swift ZXI seems to be the best option . I guess wait period also should nt be too long.

Thanks Karan. We are quite heavily leaning towards a VDi + alloys+ upgraded tyres (or with ABS?) at the moment. It has same waiting as an ZXi (6-8 weeks), and our jaunts will only increase as time goes.

The only other serious contender at the moment is Fusion D (a TD is in order sometime mid week).

@smsrini: Your idea was suggested, and madam instead suggested that I take the santro since I will need off hand use only!

Of course we are in multiple minds over safety features, but just ABS won't make the cut. And Indica DLX is the only VFM car that comes close in our budget. But Tata A.S.S - never!

@ LS- I saw Swift 's advt. in Hindu Paper today. It was specified now no wait delivery for Swift Petrol. I was quite surprised. Kindly check if its true
. VDI is also good option as it has excellent engine, mileage .

Hey Lightning,

My true suggesting for you both would be the Swift( prabably Vdi( does that hv the top stuff i think / Zxi( with ABS etc etc. that you want) I say this because my sister and hubby;s match with your lifestyle and location and since its just you two the swift seem real fit and has that zing for a great drive after work back home or out for dinners etc. etc.

I personally drive the U-VA which is definitely a good car for my needs but with you both being the sole travelers, Swift with the great a.s.s etc etc match your needs very well.
Chevy a.s.s is great in mumbai .. i dont have any idea about gurgaon..
