which car for tall drivers

Hello

I recently am thinking of buying a car , but to my horror my 6'2" frame couldnot fit in the drivers seat of a maruti esteem ,, so which all cars can fit my frame comfortably

or which cars are suited for tall drivers ?

in the "small car ., hatch ,. sedan" segments

I think the honda city, or the sx4 is good in the sedan segment, while the swift will do quite good as well.
Why dont you try out SUV like Scorpio or Safari, could be good for you

EDIT : By The Way , i did fit in the esteem quite easily ( I am also 6'2")

Hi, I am 6 ft 2'' tall and will share my thoughts below based on the cars I have driven. From my experience however, the best thing to do is to do a test drive on each and every vehicle in your budget to check out. When you get into the test drive vehicle, pls adjust all the levers to get yourself into the most comfortable seating position possible. Then drive 5 to 6 kms to see how your back, knees, neck etc react. With that caveat, here goes:
a) Maruti esteem - completely agree with you. My knees gave me a sharp response and that was that.
b) Maruti Alto - less said the better.( By the one, I do own one, but I let my wife drive me when we go out on this vehicle)
c) Tata Indigo - whatever else you may say about this vehicle, it is not lack of space. Legs are comfortable. For the back & neck however, you need to adjust the levers to get into the right position.
d) Cedia - what space for the legs! The seating position is a bit reclined backwards - I didn't like it initially but got used to it after a few drives
e) Honda City - lovely. I found it very comfortable
f) Ford Fiesta - Very comfortable again( but not so much for the person behind me!!)
g) Hyundai Verna - very comfortable..i found the clutch foot rest also a useful feature.
h) Wagon R - very comfortable again. good space for tall people
i) Santro - so-so..wagon R was better
j) Toyota - my brother-in-law owns one and this is very comfortable for tall people. An upright seating position is also good for people who like to sit like that.
k) SX4 - I found it very comfortable.

Hope this helps.

My two cents on this.
We own a Swift Vxi and an I10 Magna. My father (Who is 70+) finds it very easy to get out of the I10. Not because he is very tall, but because he finds it difficult to bend when getting in and out of cars. Even the Santro should be similar, but since I haven't tried it so no comment.

My friend ( right now in Banglore for studies ) was slim as 6'5" tall. They own Santro Xing. He was comfortable, but Wagon R is more comfortable than Santro.

Sx4, Honda City are the one that can fit your frame. Getz is also comfortable. Swift is so-so.

i have seen honda city old , getz , santro , esteem , mahindra logan , palio , siena , accent , alto , maruti 800 , ..
of these only the Hyundai Santro feels most comfortable and well planted on the road and driveable , so obviously its my first choice ..
Thank you all , hope this thread will be useful for other tall drivers like me

IMO the best car for super tall men is the WagonR.
Not just because of the tall seating, but the placement of pedals, gearshift, steering, is just perfect.

For me, the issue is my thighs hitting steering wheel in almost all the cars except honda city/ swift zxi. Yet to find a car which suits me apart from these two :(. Should I be worried about thighs hitting steering wheel ? ( this happens only when I wear shoes)

Seats can be moved.

Seats can be moved back and lowered or changed altogether. But, you have be careful about taking room from the back seat, you have to realize that if you lower the seat other things may not feel right, for example your knees could rise. I have had good luck just moving the seat back maybe 6 centimeters and re-anchoring it there.
