Close your eyes n go for the zen...only because it has a more powerful engine...if you dont mind an 800cc engine...only then alto.

Alto being a very light car, power steering is not much useful. LXi is not VFM, not worth additional 30K over LX for PS. and the answer to your question...Its Zen all the way.

its gotta be a zen dude , and in such small cars a power steering is a luxury and not a necessity but a more powerful engine is sure a NECESSITY .

I dont see what the confusionis Ping!!!!!You are getting a better car in all respects...a zen when compared to an Alto. I own an Alto and I drive it every day and if Im am given a chance to cmpare it with a zen,,,alto is no match atall...hahaaa..Alto 800cc is damn sluggish no no fun to drive...but a zen it doesnt need an introduction...Your question is like " Honda city vs Esteem"...hope Im doin justice to that comparison!!hhehehe..

How is an 800cc car priced the same as a 1000cc car? Sorry if I missed out something.

My suggestion though would be the Alto, for the only reason that the Zen is a terribly outdated car, which would manage to command the sort of premium and respect it does only in this country. The Alto is more contemporary than the Zen and I think it confirms to more updated saftey requirements than the Zen does. None of them are 5 seaters, and incredibly cramped.
But if you can ignore the nitty-gritties, go in for the Zen, quite a few people have taken to the new Zen. Besides they will both stretch a litre of petrol to about 16 kmps anyway.
