getz GLS to getz GLX or i10 kappa?

Need to change my Feb 05 Getz. Wife wants the same car, perhaps the 1.3 GLX with ABS, I am thinking of i10 kappa with ABS. Interior Space-wise how does it stack up? Any other suggestions? And what deals are on right now?

well the kappa might be a bit of a downgrade since the interior space and bootspace in the getz is more.

I understand from the forum i20 is on the anvil in Nov this year, and if u could wait get i20, which would be a good upgrade from Getz.

Hi,

I suggest you buy new Getz itself rather than i10 kappa. The reason: Getz wins easily in comfort and space. If they had provided Getz automatic I would have baught it 3 years back itself.

i10 has hard suspension similar to Santro, I am not pleased with its ride quality.

Getz and Spark are best hatchbacks in terms of comfort.

Regards,

Ravi.

If space is primary concern then go for Getz.
But if the car is going to be driven in the city with mostly 1 or two passengers, then go for the i10 1.2.

Wait for the i20 Buddy. It ll be launched in few months. I think it ll also get the 1.2 Kappa engine. I saw a scoop of i20 in one of the magazines. Looks quite good !

It's an individual choice to repeat same car again after few years. Just shows how much one likes the car.
Getz GLS would have been top-end model in Feb '05, is that the reason why you are inclined for Getz GLX now?

i10 Kappa would be fine if it's an additional car to Getz GLS. i10 is smaller than Getz in rear seat as well as boot space. i10 can't be a replacement for Getz.

If you want to stay with Hyundai brand, wait for i20 launch.
If you need to buy now, then have a look at other big hatches.

How many people at the same time in the car.
If its 4 or less then go for the new kappa.
If it goes to 5 you are better off with the Getz.

Yes, the car is really good. While it does not set any passions alight, like the Baleno, wife uses it mainly for taking the kids to classes and herself to work. It has worked well and still rides almost like new.
Reason for GLX really is because of ABS.
Any links to the i20?

Check these threads for i20, if you haven't come across these yet.

i20 would be the logical upgrade to Getz. According to wht i know Its will be marginally bigger, more feature rich and have much better interiors (maintaining the trend started by i10)

It is slated for Nov 2008 launch and initially will be availaible with two engines - 1.2 'Kappa' (same as i10) and 1.5 crdi (the current Getz/Verna Diesel). Later the 1.2 will be replaced/complemented with the 1.4 'Kappa' engine (currently under development).

Speculative pricing is 50-100K over current Getz pricing.

If you can wait till end of 08 i suggest u wait for i20.

You have got the luxury of waiting, so waiting for the i20 won't do you harm. If you, or more specifically your wife, likes it, it would be a logical upgrade.

I would have loved to wait for the i20 but being my first car purchase, I will most probably go for the GLX; too bad it does not have airbags.

Well, can I wait? yes and no! I can wait since the car is fine and really does not need to be changed.
But again, will lose out on depreciation for my tax planning, plus I will have to invest in new tyres, possibly a battery, if I keep the car another year.
But I have decided to wait, particularly reading all your inputs. There are stories that the i20 will replace the Getz - so that'a another factor.
Thanks guys.

Hi, I own a Getz 1.3 and have just booked an i10 Sportz Kappa (to replace my Santro Xing).

I presume that you're very comfortable with Hyundai service and Getz. I understand that you want more features, including ABS, for your upgrade. Put all this together, and the best option would be to wait for the Oct'08 launch of the i20.

i10 would surely be a downgrade in terms of interior space (which the Getz excels, esp with split rear seats). But engineering quality of the i10 Kappa is much better than Getz 1.3.

The i20 is expected to cost much more than Getz GLX (the salesgirl booking my i10 suggested that the i20 would be in competition with Fusion & Fabia). Thus, if an extended budget is no concern for you, then waiting for the i20 would surely offer you an wholesome upgrade over your current vehicle.

BTW, i'm too waiting for the i20 to upgrade my Getz 1.3!
