Small car query

A friend of mine at the workplace is looking to buy a small car.

He still has to learn driving, which he plans to take up at a driving school in a day or two.

Following are his requirements:

1. A small hatchback
2. Low on maintenance
3. Good mileage
4. Running - 400-500 kms/month (mostly in the city)
5. Budget - 3-4 lacs

Alto, Spark, Santro Xing, Zen Estilo? The last two would probably go out of budget. He may stretch his budget by a bit.

All of these are in his budget. In fact, even the i10 era would be just over.

My suggestions:

1- Santro
2- This info already exists in multiple threads.
