Any change of heart in the Swift Petrol???

Dear Experts

A friend of mine is evaluating between the Swift ZXi or Vdi with ABS. Being around a 1000 km /month run and majorly city driving, I advised him for the petrol. However someone told him that the present 1.3 petrol engine is a decade old and Maruti is contemplating to replace it with some 'K' series 1.2 L which would be more powerful, zippy and fuel efficient.

Want to know if this is something certain and if yes wht is the timeline? My friend can wait upto another 6 months if that means getting a better machine.

The only talk is of replacing the G-series with the M-series engine sometime in 2009 - to meet new pollution control norms and not for performance upgrades.
