Total cost is Rs 6,10,707
breakdown:
ex showroom = 515,710
1 yr insurance= 14,855
road tax 4 life= 73,747
ext. warranty = 2,395
reg. etc = 4,000

i've to pay Rs. 50,000 as a booking fee.

a few things i'm wondering about:
1. i can't seem to get any discounts at all, called a few dealerships (not eligible for corporate discount).
2. why is insurance included? should'nt i be getting that somewhere else on my own?
3. do i have to pay road tax for life, can't i just pay for the year?

basically just looking for endorsement that all is fine so I can go ahead and book it asap!
Dude something off here. Firstly the road tax is just too high. I just got a 2009 VDi a month ago and here are the extras
Insurance 15000
RTO Charges (all incl) 39000

so this guys pulling a number on you or doenst know what hes saying. Reg cant be just 4000 and Road tax is just too high. Fish around a bit.

1. Yes, petrol is applicable for discounts, bargain, dont be afraid to walk out, he'll give you tons of goodies(Teflon, PS, Mats, Guards, etc)
2. You can get any insurance you want, make sure its cashless tho.
3. Road tax is one time only

Good luck...

All bangalore dealers are giving the exact same price, give or take a few hundreds.

I've just paid for my swift zxi, and inspected it at the stock yard. the chassis number checks out ok: ending in B9.
the car was covered with dust though.

they're registering it tomorrow, i'm getting delivery on sunday.

5.73 OTR for ZXi ?
I went to one of Maruti dealers yesterday in Delhi and they offer Swift Vxi (without ABS) for 5.75Lac after corporate discount.
Is the difference so much between two cities?

Not sure of the latest prices, but on Dec 26th, the price was 5.73 OTR. I got 30k off for 2008 car. So effective OTR was 5.43.

Its a different story that my TCO crossed 6.1L now.

yes to all

>>3. do i have to pay road tax for life, can't i just pay for the year?
You can if you are a PSU , defence employee and get that official letter stating that you have a transferable job.

For Alto one needs to pay only ~850/- per year which comes to a huge saving of 8-9k fif you keep the vehicle for 10 yrs.

This facility is available for PSU employees who have a transferable job and I have a neighbor who got an Alto under such scheme in Jan.

>> RTO charges:
Welcome to kar, it has the highest road tax in country. So make sure we all vote this time (Jaago Re! One Billion Votes India) and put in the right govt which makes the best use of all this huge tax money.

Unfortunately, the state elections in KA wont happen until the next 4 yrs and I also think, current reduced consumer spending wont let the state government reduce any taxes
