New Indica Xeta 1.2 GLS or Used Turbo DLG 1.4?

I have the option of buying a INDICA car in Bombay among the above 2 options.

My main factors in finalising the car will be good AC, space for 5 healthy adults, and the capacity of the engine in bearing this load specially with the AC on. My daily running is mainly in the city and is approx. 500-600 kms per month. Financially the difference between the two is approx. 1.5 lakhs.

The used car is in good condition and has clocked 48000 kilometres and is a 2006 model.

Would appreciate your valuable advice. Thanks

If you plan to battle rush hour traffic, avoid the diesel. The NA diesels are slow all the time, the turbo is slow initially, but starts moving later. But still a significant annoying in traffic. I own one.

is mostly petrol territory

I'm assuming that the diesel is the cheaper one

I would suggest you look for a second hand petrol indica. This way, you can have depreciation work for you - prices of petrol indica's fall like rocks. You can get hold of petrol indica's in much better shape for less.

If you plan to get the diesel, TD it , make sure the turbo 'kick' is still there. If its not , it could mean an abused engine.
And make sure its a Turbo DLG. I think NA DLG's were available in 2006

It's always better to go in for a new car, and in this case I would have gone a new xeta.

You fall in the petrol category and like all else mentioned, if you get a reasonably low mileage Xeta, lap it up.

We owned a v2 DLS for 5 years and i would suggest you not to go for a secondhand indica . It is hugely fuel efficient and spacious . I guess thats about it . It does not age well or atleast as good as others do so go for a new one !

Thanks guys, we finally bought the second hand Indica DLG Turbo, mainly because of the price and more powerful engine factors. Thanks again, everybody.

um, the GLS is no slouch, except in the really low end torque department and the lack of breath in the top end. in the city, its actually better. I own a DLG turbo and found the GLS better for city runs. Oh well, its too late now. Do post some pics and an initial ownership report
