Santro AT if she does not like manual. But not sure if you could get one one in your budget. If manual is not an issue, Alto Lxi is the best bet.

Thanks for Santro AT suggestion, did not even think about it !

How about Zen (2000 onwards)
It will be good both for mom and me (modder's dream car !)

Your mom will not love the poor low end response and low seating (read difficulty of ingress and egress) of the Zen.
Santro AT/Santro manual(PS) /WagonR LXi/Alto LXi is the way to go (in order of preference).

Please DO NOT even think of a zen. The seating is too low for older folks and they hate it. Besides, comparing it with a santro, mileage in the city is also less. Trust me, we had both the cars at the same time. My folks were in love with the santro and used to hate he zen. But for me it was vice versa

Dear Rahul,
A used Spark will be the best option for your mom. Reasonably good driving position, reliable, easy to drive and park & good looks. Let her test drive one and decide.

I would suggest you to go for a Santro. And second vote goes to ZEN any time.

For the fairer sex;

1) Santro AT - with a budget stretch.
2) Nano - Buy New with a 20K premium from one of the allotees. Why settle for second hand if one can buy new.
3) Spark
