Here goes. The car came with the original steel rims. Got the original GTX wheels from bhpian Vignesh, Chennai.

Well, I finally got the G. Black GTX.

How I got it.
At the outset let me mention that all this happened so unexpectedly. I was on the lookout for a good Gypsy and unfortunately nothing came by or the asking price was too much. And there was something about this car which wanted me to not loose it.
Again, even good GTX are hard to come by and I made up my mind on not missing this one. I am sure there is a Gypsy in my life one day. Hopefully.

What I like about the new car in comparision with my 007 GTX.
The ride is much better and stiffer. Amazingly well planted and has a steady steering. The GTX are quite infamous for its brakes, yet I think this one is pretty good or either previous GTX was very bad.
The interiors are new, engines crisp and spirited. Feels new.

What I did after I got it.
The usual changes, top ups and service.
Got the wheels changed. Fortunately I was able to get hold of the original wheels for another bhpian here on the classifieds.Tyres changed along.
Brake Mass cylinder, air intake hose and wiper blades.

Problem areas.
The OE alloys were without the bolts. I thought that steel wheels bolts should suit or even if it never does I can buy it off the shelf.
The steels bolts never did suit and the 1.25 12mm bolts were not available anyplace.
The two dealers in Coimbatore, TVS and Tafe also did not have them and promised to get back, which they never have.
So I got the same from another place. These were not fitting too and were just tightening to two threads. So I got it done at the lathe. They fit just perfect. I was so happy. Then I tried to tighten the same and the head came off. Man. This happened to all the bolts. Junked them and hoping to get these soon from either TVS or Tafe.

Details
Price: A bit on the higher side but I am not complaining as I previously owned another GTX and the feeling of driving one is just something you don't want to fix a price to. And this car was just too perfect.
Model: 2001 Dec, 2002 Registered
Colour: Galaxy Black

Thanks to all here again. The Sequel happened.

Wonderful swap!

Congrats. I see it as a great deal, a swap that is not really a swap at all!

Cheers,

Congratulations!
Nowadays, no price is a high price for a well maintained GTX. It's slowly becoming an antique for sure.

Me thinks so too. The thing is good well maintained cars are hard to come by.

Even if you get an abused car its an expensive affair to bring it back to its original glory. Also, keep in mind the agony if you are not able to get something and need to wait. Like the bolts in my case. Its a small thing, but annoying.

Thanks for your wishes.

There was no 1.6 sports. It should be the 1.2 sports. The same came with the OE GTX alloys and spoiler.
The 1.6 engines are there only in the 1.6GTX and S10. S10 comes only in canary yellow.

The 1.9D is not a very good car. The 1.2 cannot be compared to the 1.6. Choose wisely, keeping in mind your use.

I think the 1.6 sports came in around 2006, I think Moral Fibre has one. Not quite sure how it differs from the GTX though

This is news to me. Maybe I should check Moral fibre's garage for more information on the same.

I have seen a Red 1.2 sports that closely resembled the GTX, telephone dial wheels, spoiler et all. However the engine was a 1.2.

Isn't the 1.6 sports the Sachin Tendulkar version?
