RITZ is the better option. Since the car is for the comfort of your parents RITZ has more space at backseat. Additionally the entry & exit is comfortable for elderly persons in RITZ. I can vouch for it because three families in my vuilding have bought the car for EXACTLY the same reason. Two are chauffer driven & third ioc driven by uncle (an ex-serviceman of repute) himself.

Practically, the Ritz will suit most (not all) of your requirements. It not only gives you a fabulous engine, but also the feeling of extra space and ease of getting in & out. Not to mention good *** and brand resale value.

The Beat will only please the aesthetic enthusiast in you. I don't know if you noticed, but even I (being just 5'7") found my knees fouling the steering column with getting in/out. Don't even get me started on the claustrophobia of the back bench. All they need to do is fix a window grill, snap on the child locks and they could get a cop car for juvenile delinquents.

Jokes apart, Chevy's *** (despite the 3 yr warranty) is nowhere near Maruti's. Neither a good resale value. Add to that Chevy's "tactics" of lowering prices to keep sales going, once the initial euphoria dies & competition starts snapping.

The K-series engine is really sweet and though i love the Beat if i had to choose between the two i would plonk my money on the Ritz, even with the 'Slash the Knife' designed rear. However, in favor of the Beat is interior space which i found almost sedan like especially in the rear. This is a tough choice to make around the age old 'form over function' conundrum.

I do not agree.
A lot has been said about the rear seat of beat.
Its claustrophobic. Not much legroom as well.

For a chauffeur driven car, you can consider the Indica. Between Ritz and Beat, I think I'll go with the Ritz because of the overall package. The rear seats are better and also set higher due to which ingress and egress are easier for the elderly.

My 2p...

If you are going to buy this car for your parents then you should go with better rear passenger space. Now, Beat is a no-no for its less rear passenger space. My suggestion is to take your parents for a test drive of Punto and Ritz and then let them decide which one is better for them.

Cheers!
Amit

I would also like to add that you can also have a look at the Indica Vista quadrajet which is around 4,65,000/- on road at the moment. It has great backseat space and beats all cars in the segment so far as backseat space is concerned. On top of it you have the highly economical MJD.

Agree.

But for a person like me who dreams of Beat as his first car, would not worry much about the passengers , since I am single & usually go out with the boys over the weekend. We do not mind.
