Honda Jazz: 2009 or 2010?

hi,
does it make sense to buy a 2009 jazz now? or should we stick to 2010? we are getting active pack free (or 20000 cash discount) with 2009 model and absolutely no discount on 2010 model. but the problem is that the 2009 model is aug made. is it too old to be bought now? or should i go ahead with the deal?

please help. i have to decide today..

well thats the major case with every car dealers, with new models manufactured, if you are keen to get freebies, bargain more for 2009 model and more of cash discounts along with their accessory addon to your car.

Peace of mind

Dude just go for 2010 model for the sake of peace of mind. Dont even think of going for an Aug 2009 model for just 20000 bucks.

+1. You could have maybe thought about it had it been a Nov 09 or Dec 09 model. It doesnt make sense to go in for an Aug 09 model.

2009 Aug model selling now with a mere 20K discount? It is 6 month old and atleast depreciated by 50K. Ask if you can get a 50K cash offer or else i would stick to the 2010 model.

The amount of discounts does not favour the 2009 model. Down the line when you want to sell the car, it would lose its value by a year. I agree at this point of time we do not have to think about resale but neverthless this is also a factor to be considered.

As put by hpzone, if the discount are more than 50k, you can think about it.

My suggestion would be to buy a 2010 model.

Unless you can get a cash discount of 40000+ freebies, don't go in for the older car! The car's been with the dealer since ages! & even if you get a hefty discount, the PDI would have to be extensive & very detailed. Not to mention the way you would feel if something did go wrong with the car later. Even the resale value would take a huge dip.
Was in a similar situation myself - check out i20 dilemma
For sheer peace of mind & a trouble-free brand new car, i'd say go in for the 2010 model

I will say go for latest 2010 model. Why lose your peace of mind for 20k when you can spend 7 lack on a hatchback!!

Have you decided on Jazz already? Don't you want to look at VW/i20 etc or you have already closed on that decision?

considered i20, but when it was compared to jazz, jazz won hands down.
now looking at the prices of VW polo, i think i should wait for some time.

Well, it helps to have more dealers. I was checking out cars and was interested in ANHC. But i took a TD of Jazz also. Without me opening my mouth on Jazz, the dealer put forth FREE Insurance + 20K + 15K(Corp Disc) for a 2009 Jazz. I could have negotiated for more seeing the desperation. But i was eyeing the ANHC. BTW, Bangalore has 3 Honda dealers and competition is good for Customers as well. (THough one dealer said there is a Dealer cartel and they all speak the same language regarding deals)

Well, if you are not getting atleast 50K CASH discount + Free accessories (Please do not count accessories in the total cash discount as they are HIGHLY overpriced) - i would go for 2010 model immediately.
