Carb feels more natural, so it feels more fun. But mpfi is less maintenance, more FE and I guess better pickup too.

So... depends. If you are only going to keep the car for 1 to 1.5 years max, might as well go for carb and experience that natural feel. Because you would get the car serviced only twice or thrice. But if you plan to keep the car for a few years, I would suggest mpfi as it is basically more reliable.

Not sure if carb vs mpfi has any direct effect on the AC. Not that I am aware of.

I guess mpfi would fetch better resale too when you plan to sell the car.

I would suggest type II esteem and due to low re-sale value you can get one in decent condition for 1L. Zen 2000 / 2001 model is also coming in your budget which is a peppy car and I love they way it accelerates in second gear making a sweet sound. I saw one 2000 Zen on sale at 1.15L which was recently repainted with 2k paint and it was a clean car.

If you will be carrying luggage then esteem is your car, its a low maintenance and won't hurt your pocket. Its not so difficult to driver in city either and I use it more than my bike even for short distance, I like it so much Type 2 esteem you can find from 90k and above depending on the condition of car.

Just my thoughts!

As your budget is <= 1.2L and you are looking for hatchback mostly for weekends and plannning to keep the car for 3yrs. Why not try out the Palio. After these 3 yrs there won`t be much difference in the resale value of the cars you mentioned and Palio. Moreover I believe M800 has stopped sale in big cities and that includes Bangalore as well.

Enjoy the Palio (FE < m800/zen), its more comfortable sitting inside, looks good, solid build, just make sure to get it thoroughly checked by your mechanic before purchasing.

Thanks a lot people for all the great opinions and advices.

I finally got a 5-Spd Maruti 800 model done only 35K Kms within my budget, car is in pristine condition, while TDing found that the car was pre-fitted with a brake booster . Did 800 ever came factory fitted with brake booster ??

I will take the delivery tomorrow, planning to take it out of town this coming weekend, pics will follow soon.

Excellent choice, one of the most fun-to-drive cars around. I think the brake booster was probably an aftermarket fitment (a good thing).

Dont forget to post the pics!

I got it for 90K which included a full service, polishing and de-carbonizing of the car before delivery.

Impressions after driving around 500 Kms over the weekend:
Very smooth engine, no loss in pick-up even with the A/C on full blast. (unlike in Alto)
Gears are very precise almost felt like a new gearbox,
Simply love the braking (OEM brake boosters)
Some squeaking/ rattling sound due to rear tray, has been replaced now.
The speedo needle shakes and vibrates, the operation in not smooth. Any ideas what can be wrong ? Will changing the wire help? how much should the wire cost?

It is a 2001 model.
Equipped with Alpine HU (Cassette Player)
Had Alpine 6X9" on tray at back, replaced by JBL GTO 948 limited edition in side boxes.
Front: some generic 3-4" speakers, in stock location. (Planning for components in future upgrade)

Researching the ICE section for upgrades, currently.

Congrats on the purchase! It seems like a good deal you got there. A while back I had purchased a 2006 M800, wasn't so lucky!

No doubt very good purchase.
Now you have got the car - IMO, now it is time to change the Thread and start a new thread with your Ownership experience?
