Figo TDCI Titanium vs i20 Asta Petrol

Folks,

Posting on behalf of a friend who is not a member. He is looking to get a i20 Asta Petrol or figo titanium diesel. Since it''s a self driven car the priorities are ftd, general ride/handling, total ownership cost, resale. He will keep it for 3-5 years. The budget is 6 to 6.5 OTR. already eliminated swift(too common/cramped)/ritz(looks/cramped)/punto(A.S.S)/Polo(3 potengine/cramped).

The running is going to be 1000 k per month.

@vishnurp99: how is that he has no preference for Diesel/Petrol? Polo you say is cramped? I thought general opinion was it was a super mini. I do not have any idea of price range but Polo with 1.6 will be best fit if thinking Petrol and i20/Figo for diesel option. Cheers!

There are a couple of Polos and an i20 in my office complex. The Polo is definitely cramped at the rear and I feel the doors should open a touch wider to offer easier ingress and egress. The i20 / Figo (and maybe even the Punto) have better rear legroom.

The polo definitely is relatively cramped when i sit on the driver's seat and i am just 5.9. Figo and i20 are definitely more spacious. The main reason however for my friend is the 3 pot motor and the ridiculous premium that VW is charging for a car which is not the segment benchmark in anything except interior plastics. The 1.6 is out of budget. The budget is 6.5ish max.

Apparently he has done a lot of homework and according to him in terms of sales i20 petrol and diesel figo are the leaders in terms of sales also(not bringing swift into the picture). That's another reason he is look at these 2 cars specifically.

Also is there any chance of 1.2 TSI which would sit between the 3 pot 1.2 and current 1.6 for polo?

@vishnurp99: Buddy 1.2TFI will be way expensive than the 1.6. No probability to be launched soon. i20 it is then for your friend, he can enjoy the gadgets and also the space.

I highly recommend thread by our fellow tbhpian smartcat http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...-reckoner.html

Figo from me .The i20 is a bit old and the jazz is too expensive and is not a sensible buy .

Of the 4, I would go for the Figo.
i20 has been grappling increasingly with steering issues
imho, jazz is overpriced even after the discount, if you consider this car, please look at level of equipment/ features

There are rumours. But note that this car was spotted around Feb 2010, and there is still no official news AFAIK.

Figo has to be it. Ford had done it's home work right.
Figo is all VFM, albeit little being less premium it has looked into
a lot of lacking features of other premium segment features missed.

Also, a borrow some features from Fiesta (sells less these days) make it
some what premium too.

POLL Admin: There are other contemporary Hatchs - Swift, Getz, Micra, Polo, Punto, .

I think the Poll should compare all these too.
