Engine noise audible in the cabin especially at low RPM and after cold start. Sometime feels engine is not so refined.
The last diesel engine we owned was the great old Amby fitted with a matador engine..ive noticed similar issue there .

Don't be surprised if they put a BSIV sticker on to the car and claim, 'Sir, component added; It's BSIV compliant now!"
ha ha ha that was a good one...and i would've said thank you! lol

End of the day it's your decision buddy
Thats the issue here..at the end of the day I get confused.

Not sure which model of Figo you are comparing with the Ikon
I was comparing the Exi model....i have this typical mindset which need to be changed ie; if im spending >5L for a car it should be a sedan.

Most of the time ill make up my mind to go with figo but the moment i spot the new ikon(very rarely is see them on road) i get confused again..its been happening for the last couple of weeks.

the inside door handle of figo looks so cheap compared to the ones in i10, and the petrol engine was a bit noisy too...

My suggestion- If you're spending >5L on a car, it should be SAFE!

Get the Figo Titanium, with ABS-EBD & dual front-airbags! You'll feel a lot better in the long run, specially if you are planning on highway driving!

I think you should definitely get the Figo , its a better all round car and surely the Ikon is well past its age in design and aesthetics.
The figo should be a refreshing option for you.

Why are you stuck with Ford Ikon? There are other options too. e.g. Indigo CS, Indigo Manza, Swift Dzire, upcoming Toyota Etios, Skoda Fabia (boot is a bit like sedan, has quality written all around).

My suggestion too is for the Figo, like most others and you have everyone's thoughts on it. Ikon is history. new fiesta is a mystery , figo is for Now!

thanks guys .....Asked the dealer to bring the Ford ikon at home for a TD
1.Outdated dashboard but smart, serves the purpose..liked the typical ikon style legroom space for the co-pilot
2.Plastics are ok..but not as good as the ones in Figo
3.The engine (tdci same as the one in fiesta) was consistently asking "what on earth is Turbo lag"
4. Fun to drive diesel,I might call it peppy
5. Amazing steering response, precise and sporty

BOOKED period.

^^^^ Welcome to IKON diesel club. I have clocked 27k with no issues (touch wood)

I got mine for point 3 and 4 and nothing else. Added bonus is the amazing mileage and good GC. Though not sure, if Fiesta would have made more sense.

Enjoy the IKON nevertheless.

correct me if you are looking for a vfm "sedan" with a diesel engine that comes with a price of a hatchback this one is the safe bet. PS: 30 tdci were booked in cochin last month.

I own and drive a Ikon TDCI and it has served me well.
The mileage on highways(provided better sense prevails while driving) is extremely good.I've consistently received mileage in excess of 20kmpl on long drives. The car feels sturdy on highways and the engine is a proven performer.

Hi there,
I'll try and keep this short.
My swift D is a 2007 model and I picked up the Ikon TDCI in Dec 2008
All in all, both are VFM products.

The Ikon TDCI has a proven engine and is a good one for long drives.I use my Swift D only in the cities.
Once you start to drive a diesel car,you get hooked to it.The torque is simply amazing.Helps in the crazy city traffic that we encounter on a day to day basis.

BTW,I've put my Swift D for sale.Have been planning to pick a MUV/SUV..Could be a Xylo or the Scorpio

Re: Ford Ikon TDCi versus Figo

Congrats, quakerme.

I own an Ikon TDCi for two years now. Have clocked 40k km with no worries at all. Consistently getting 22kmpl with around 70% highway and 70% AC usage. And I still love to drive this one.

Re: Ford Ikon TDCi versus Figo

Congrats Quakerme.
Ford Ikon is a neat car.I would rate it as a good VFM product.
Well built and a very good engine.
Your mileage is bound to go north after the first service.
It should give you anything between 18-20 in bangalore city.
I have clocked 39k kms till date(Brought it in Nov 2008) and its been a fantastic buy.

Drive safe
