Can't agree more.. New Wagon R and new i10 grand are otherwise really good cars for what they offer in terms of features vs cost. when the early images were floating around I was curiously looking for head rest and finally it came as a disappointment.

Must have been transported on truck & just unloaded at the dealership. Thats where the photo is taken. Seem to be stationary & wheels don't seem used in current weather much.

Certainly its illegal to drive that way. I think they just transported it for the launch event. "Fresh off the oven".

Just realized - the white coloured one in pictures from rear three quarters has a striking resemblance to how the cab-used Tata BOLT looks! Thanks to its floating C pillar & wrap arround hatch glass!

re: The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, now launched at Rs 5 lakhs

I am interested in looking into the Era model for a friend.

His only grouse is that the rear windows are manual! He doesn't want to upshift a variant because of this.

Is there any possibility that the rear windows could be switched to electric from the dealer end? If yes, is it suggested to do so?

Otherwise, he'll have to look for an old stock Grand i10 Magna/Sportz.

Very much possible. I have seen numerous low variants with power windows installed from Dealers itself. From what i remember, it should cost between 6-8k to get the work done and the warranty remains intact. Not 100% sure about Nios as it is a new model and the related parts may not be available at launch. You can check with the nearest dealer.

I see the Sportz AMT loses out only on some features compared to the Asta. Not bad. Only thing now is the price of the BS6 Diesel, if they price it well, then we may have the new National Engine of India once Maruti exits this market.

Wow, so a Grand i10 in well-kitted trims will cost 8-9L on road now. Somehow I am unable to see myself plonking that sort of money in a small car. I guess the i20 looks much more VFM now, with this new reference. Not too enthusiastic about the pricing, considering there are more powerful options available at a similar price point - like the Ford Freestyle for instance.

The pricing for the Diesel variants are too good! All the variants are cheaper than the equivalent Swift Diesel, even though its a BS6.

If Hyundai can price their BS6 diesel so well, I don't see any reason why other manufacturers need to give up diesels!

In the next 2 years, all of Hyundai's major selling models are getting a refresh, it started with the Venue, today the i10, and soon to be launched new i20 and Creta, all have proper BS6 Engines. I believe Maruti did not expect this and are now shocked by this move by Hyundai launching cheap BS6 Diesels.

The diesel variant is BS IV only.

New hatchback comes with a BS6 petrol motor and a BS4 diesel engine, with a 5-speed AMT gearbox option on both; prices start at just Rs 1,000 more than the Grand i10.

The Nios diesel is not BS-VI compatible yet. The BS-VI version will come later.

Only the Nios petrol is BS-VI ready.

So by the looks of things - DIESEL SPORTZ is an AMT ONLY variant? No MT in Diesel Sportz?

Looks like Hyundai is expecting a drop in diesel sales & keeping variants to the minimum for smaller inventory management on diesels. Makes sense I think. Too many variants are actually making a mess for customers now a days.

In fact I think thats a first of sorts. No car has been available so far in a trim that is "AMT ONLY".

re: The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, now launched at Rs 5 lakhs

BS-IV Diesel Engine, and still priced over Rs. 87,000/- more than Petrol version, seems to be over enthusiastic. Or, Hyundai thinks that buying BS IV Diesel now, is pragmatic.

AMT is priced 60k above Manual, which is on the higher side and is knocking the doors of CVT.
