One of the major problems we face today is the really bad fuel that lots of pumps sell. Often it hampers the performance of the car or even leads to permanent damage. I think it would be helpful if we all get together and create a database of "Good" and "Bad" places to fill up. For example:

Good: The Indian Oil pump opposite Tulip (formerly Juhu Centaur). We've been filling up here for years with no problems.

Bad: Vikram Petrol Pump (Bharat Petroleum) on Juhu-Versova link road. Their diesel screwed up my brother-in-law's Palio, and their petrol was so impure, we had to get the carburettor on our Gypsy King cleaned out. At the time, we had an account with the pump and were exclusively filling up there, so it had to be their fuel that caused the problems.

Yes, the same data citywise will be better too, e.g Bangalore, Delhi, etc., at least covering major cities.

I have yet to find a Reliance pump with bad fuel.

BP - Seshadripuram, Lal Bagh West gate, Opp. Imperial Hotel

IOCL - Bowring Institute, Seshadripuram

Out of the above I'd say SHELL anyday, no chance of tampering and fuel adulteration, period......

In Delhi, using HP (Power) for the past couple of years, so -

1) Company owned & operated pump opposite Hyatt Regency (on Ring Road), next to the Indianoil pump
2) Pump next to Ansal Plaza

In the past, have used BP & Indianoil and found the following ones very reliable -

1) Indianoil company owned & operated pump opposite Nehru Place Bus Terminal
2) Bharat Petroleum pump next to it

Absolutely agree with you. Now i am a regular at that pump. And i too fill Power. FE has improved too!.. I think there are pumps on both sides of the road.. not sure whats there in the other side though.. i always try to get it filled from the HP one which is just at the starting of the flyover..going from Dhaula Kuan to AIIMS

You mean the pump on the left just before the start of the Bhikaji Cama place flyover (proceeding to AIIMS), yup that's the one I'm talking about as well; and I don't think there are any pumps on the opposite side at that point - its the Hotel entrance

Have used this one - in addition to fuelling they clean the windscreen as well. However, added 2% surcharge on my credit card which offers no petrol surcharge beenfit.

Also use the Indian Oil one on Khel Gaon road near to SiriFort Auditorium. Never had any issues with "starting from 0" and quality of fuel. Also doesnt add 2% surcharge on my credit card which offers no-fuel surcharge.

Always used power in my santro - now wondering if I can use it in NHC too.

Are you guys sure its 87 octane + additives, then it should be ok.

Also, have observed that the service staff at HP petrol pumps are generally more courteous than at others - IndianOil staff being the worst of the lot.

my freind own a petrol pump at silvasa - hpcl, he claims that the reliance diesel density is way low than the hpcl densitly.

I think you should definitely use it for your Vtec - I've had mixed experiences with Indianoil & BP whereas I have found HP to be pretty consistent in terms of delivering performance & mileage.

Use below link of Hindustan Petroluem for information on Power; I somehow had the impresion it was 91 octane with additives but you could be right, it may be 87 with additives. The Power 93 is not available at "our" pump AFAIK -

NHC will best function of high octane petrol due to high compression engine.
