Hyundai opens its highest dealership at Leh

Hyundai has inaugurated its highest premium dealership in the country - Togo Hyundai, situated near 1, Airport Road, Skalzangling, LEH - 194101, J&K. Built at 11,184 feet above sea level and spread across 2,156 sq.ft., it will showcase the entire range of cars. This dealership boasts of a 9,655 sq.ft. service / workshop area as well. This would be good news not only for the residents of that region but also visitors who wish to service / repair their Hyundai cars while touring the hills.

Following the company's global brand philosophy, Hyundai is upgrading its dealerships to Hyundai's Global Dealership Space Identity (GDSI) program. As per this program, all dealerships will have a unified look. By the end of 2015, 140 dealerships across India will be GDSI ready and by 2018, its entire dealer network will incorporate GDSI.

Many would remember Maruti's advertisement where two friends are driving in a Gypsy in the middle of nowhere only to find a Maruti service centre there. How else would Maruti enjoy presence in the remotest areas of the country had it not been for its widespread sales and service network. In an attempt to strengthen its reach in the country Hyundai too is taking steps to improve is presence.

Amazing, Hyundai is chasing Maruti like a wild dog and the efforts are visible all over. They are playing all the right cards and if Maruti does not up the game, Hyundai's will be eating Maruti's market share quite a bit in the coming years.

Re: Hyundai opens its highest dealership at Leh

A well deserved move by the established no. 2 in India. Hyundai is going strength to strength and the kind of product portfolio they have, they are suited for both tier-1 and tier-2 cities.

I think the way Hyundai is performing in India, the first 2 spots are reserved for MSIL and Hyundai while the rest of the lot will start from position 3 onwards.

Good work Hyundai.

Re: Hyundai opens its highest dealership at Leh

At a time when manufacturers like Nissan, Tata, Skoda etc. are losing dealerships in metropolitan cities, Hyundai is able to open one in a place like Leh! And it's no small shop either. 10,000 square feet is respectable for Leh.

Great news also for BHPians travelling to Leh in their Hyundais. Any problems or issues (e.g. underbody hit), help is just around the corner .

I would be very surprised if Hyundai don't end up with 25% market share in another decade. These guys are relentless. If it were for some one else, they would have just sat on the current laurels till competition catches up. Hyundai's growth is going to be a case study for business schools soon. Suzuki has to be really on their toes.

That's actually a very valid point. Hyundai might be a distant 2nd place behind Maruti, but it's the main one to keep Maruti on its toes. Both have several products in direct competition.

Hyundai is also the only Indian manufacturer that can match Maruti in terms of new product launches, reliability, after-sales quality....and beat Maruti in terms of refinement, quality & features.

Investments too - and that's a big factor - Hyundai keeps pumping money into its Indian operations and R&D. Many global manufacturers (e.g. VW, Ford) have slowed down on India investments due to their poor performance in the market.

While I agree with you guys, I would also like to point out that the Hyundai growth story in India is a little over estimated as well. The case in point being the last five years.

August 2010. Hyundai sold 28,601 (14%) cars against 92,604 (45.38%)by MSIL.
August 2015. Hyundai sold 40,505 (18.51%) cars against 106,781 (48.8%) by MSIL.

In 5 years, Hyundai increased sales by 11,904 cars (And this includes the Creta blitzkrieg!). While MSIL did so by 14,177 cars. Now, in terms percentages - Hyundai is going mighty well, but MSIL is not so far behind and is ahead in terms of gain in absolute numbers.

Hyundai will have to fight tooth and nail to grab even 1% of market share from MSIL.

Re: Hyundai opens its highest dealership at Leh

CrAzY dRiVeR,
The growth of both have been at the expense of other manufacturers! That's not a good sign about our markets. MSIL and Hyundai has wriggled 7% share from others. MSIL as a market leader doesn't have the innovative strength to be one. They were sitting ducks as far as Compact SUV, Premium hatchback and SUV costing between 13-20 lakhs. See Ecosport, Elite i20 and Creta! Where were MSIL? With the arrival of KWID at such a price, I'm sure Alto will never ever see the high sales it was used to, KWID will take at least 5000 of the sales. If MSIL doesn't fasten their boots, it won't be long before they would be left wondering.
