Libra Ford not refunding booking amount for EcoSport since 5+ months

My brother in law [BIL] had booked an EcoSport from Libra Ford, Kundli, Sonepat, Haryana approximately 5 months back. In due course, the dealership could not get the color/variant of his choice and he requested them to refund the total amount of Rs. 41,000 [31K booking and 10K accessories - imagine ].

This continued for some months, there were assurances, dates given, promises made, but nothing came out. I was speaking with him one fine day and he casually mentioned this issue. I asked him to pursue things in black and white [which he hadn't done till then because of the smooth talking of sales personnel].

The e-mails aren't helping much either, even Ford has not been able to help here. I forwarded him few personal id's of Ford's which I could manage to obtain, but they were not of any help either.

Where does one go from here? Is this how Ford thinks it can do business and survive? I do not think he has the guts to get or even think about another Ford again. I was very happy about Ford's CC, but this episode makes me think twice.

Heck, they have not been able to obtain the headlamp washer of my friend's 3.2 Titanium for the past few months, but that is another topic.

In 2017 I had booked an Aspire in Jharkhand. They were not able to get the colour so had to cancel and book with another dealership. First they said their GM is out of station and he only can sign the refund cheque. I complained to the customer care and very next day they handed over cash.

In my belief customer care of Ford in India is active and effective. God knows why they are helpless in this case.

That is something which Ford has to answer. I too have had positive experiences till date and I believe Ford has had enough time.

You can lodge a complain on National Consumer Helpline (NCH) and see how it goes (https://consumerhelpline.gov.in), or alternatively, approach local cops and tell them the facts along with the mails. 9/10 times the cop will call the dealership and ask to settle this before an official complaint is filed.

Never tried NCH, but had to approach cops for help when a friend was unable to get back his rental deposit.

NCH will certainly help in this matter. I had some serious service related stuff with a leading brand and I chose to write to NCH and got the desired response. You can also try writing to the PM at his website. Ask your B-I-L to claim for mental agony as well.

Someone from accountancy department of Libra Ford did contact my BIL on 10th January. He was asked to come to Naraina. He reached Naraina and tried to call that number, the number was switched off.

He came back to Libra Ford, Kundli and it was deserted, no one was there. Appears we are at a dead end.

So, good news finally. Cheque was personally handed over to my B-I-L on Saturday which got cleared by Monday evening.
