Re: Maruti Swift Servicing at 20,000 KM

Sounds good. Almost the figures I paid. Except the labour is more expensive, but that is now the norm across almost all MASS'

For the "20K paid service only" labour is Rs 750.00. But together with that, they claim, they do brake cleaning, suspension check/greasing etc which costs the remaining amount. I really doubt wheather to go for Brake cleaning etc

I assume that they will sandpaper the brake pads ? I got that done always, though never paid extra for it.

Air Filter-230,
Brake fluid-137,
Other consumeables-100.
Labour Rs 1500.00. Labour includes Paid service, Brake check and cleaning and suspension check.

So total will be around Rs 4900.00. Any suggestions?
Coolant seems to be only 1 litre, but I was charged for 2 litres yesterday, also most of your costs seem to be before taxes. Not sure whats the tax there, but I had to pay a 12.5% VAT in addition to Service tax and levies on labour charges.
Also there does not seem to be any additional cost for brake bleeding, for which I was charged Rs. 385.

Please do post the final figures so that I can do a comparision.

Re: Maruti Swift Servicing at 20,000 KM

I did 20K service of my Vdi at Indus Motors, Paliyekkara, Thrissur.
Main complaints were rattle from door pads, Horn tuning, Head light beam checking etc actually no serious complaints.

Overall they did a OK job. But I think labour charges are on the higher side.
Details are below.
Parts
1) MGDO 15W40 oil 223/l,
2) Oil filter 333.84,
3) Gear oil 75W90 306.33/L,
4) Coolant 208.65,
5) Brake fluid 137.62,
6) Exchange filter 1068.99,
7) Screen wash 13.32,
8) Clip 2.66,
9) Plug assy oil drain 56.82,
10)Air filter 229.96

Total parts cost inclv tax is Rs 4013.46

Labour charges

1) Paid service 725,
2) Brake over haul 450,
3) Calipper shimmimg 225,
4) Consumables 100.

Total Labour cost inclv tax is Rs 1586.11

Total Bill including taxes is Rs 5600.00. They gave a discount of Rs100.00 as their service station is far from town. Over all an OK experience, except for the high charges for brake over haul and paid service.

My red pimento is back to her form after the service.

Seems more or less in line with what I paid, except I did'nt get the brakes overhauled. But surprisingly, Maruti Swift diesel 20k service seems more than twice the cost of the Ford Figo Diesel service. Wonder why such a huge difference? Is it justified?

Re: Maruti Swift Servicing at 20,000 KM

Morrow is a big day for me! It will be an acid test for my negotiating skills and common sense.

I have made a list of the likely pit falls and will keep an eye out for those. Lets see how it spans out.

Anyone with recent visit to MASS, how much does the paid labor cost?

I will upload the estimate given by the SA and seek feed back from you guys before paying up!

Thanks in advance!

At best you can cut some stuff they ask you to do. But if they do something which has been approved by you, then you will have to pay the charges.

Just make sure they don't do anything which isn't asked for at 20000 kms (in the handbook) - typically they ask to put additives even though it's not in the handbook. My opinion is that it's not necessary. Other things that they may try to ask you to do is stuff like coatings & polishings etc.
I meant something like this:

Quote:

1. Distelled Water 1 Ltr: Rs. 62.88

10. All Door Adjustment Rs. 220 (This is not asked for and a rip off)
62 bucks/ltr of distilled water? You get a bottle for 15/ltr in any shop outside.

Re: Maruti Swift Servicing at 20,000 KM

Here is an estimate given by the SA. I will pick up the car by this evening.

Engine Oil-1300
Gear Oil-800
Coolant-500. What is this? I forgot to ask him about this. Will ask when I go to pick up the car
Diesel oil filter-1200
Air filter-300
Brake Oil-300
Paid service-975
Another few things which I can't figure out owing to illegible hand writing amounting to 900

Total Estimate- 6300+Tax

Told them not to do WB/WA/Tire rotation.

You sure the engine oil cost is alright? 1300 bucks? Previous post indicate 690-800 bucks for oil. I am quoted another 500 bucks extra for oil?
Where am I getting ripped off?

Reply asap, folks!

Thanks!

I think Swift needs 3.3 l of oil. But usually they put 3.5, so you are getting charged 370 Rs per litre which seems pretty exorbitant for MGO which is an obsolete oil. I think even a regular oil like Castrol GTX which is much superior than MGO shouldn't cost that much - unless oil prices have gone over the roof recently (which they might have) - do you know which oil they are using - it's usually mentioned in the bill.

Re: Maruti Swift Servicing at 20,000 KM

I thought it was cheaper to service Marutis! 6500/- for a 20k service is a lot of money, by no means cheap to maintain now. Have other's also paid similar prices or have the bills been varied? Could be the service station levying some extra charges.

My 20K, 40K & 60K service - all of these cost me around Rs. 4000 each. The 30K, 50K etcs cost around 1500-2000.
