Without doing a item to item comparision, I dont really think you were ripped off, cos when I did my servicing last Dec, I scrutinized every item, and still the costs came to approx 6k, so your bill is on similar lines.

However, the question we Maruti owners should be asking is the high cost of servicing in general.

How much would it cost if we get the service done outside?

As such my running is less. I had 8k clicks on the odo between previous and this service. That is a whopping 80 paise/km as maintenance charges!

If outside servicing is cheap, I would rather get it done outside once the extended warranty ceases.

Now those are some very encouraging figures. Anything >5k on a hatch looks too much. Plus the tag of Maruti's being cheap to maintain looses sheen.

Btw, were the services carried out by Maruti a.s.s. or from outside?

50 & 60 were Carnation. Others were Maruti. Over the weekend, I will try to get my 40K bill & post the breakup.

Carnation is cheaper, I've experienced it myself. 40k figures would be great.

One buys a Maruti thinking the maintenance would be cheaper but if one has to think about getting service done from outside, what's the fun in buying Marutis! Guess the long waiting ques for products have made Maruti raise the costs, could turn out to be counter-productive.

Hi Sachin,

I'm sure the costs of servicing your car outside will be cheaper, but that was not my point. I was comparing the costs of servicing at the Authorized service center, and there is a huge difference between the costs of Ford and Maruti. Ford Figo costs only Rs. 3300 while Swift cost 6500, which is very unusual. See the post below

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...ml#post2490366

Somethings wrong here, is Maruti overcharging us?

Re: Maruti Swift Servicing at 20,000 KM

My Swift is nearing 60K and I don't remember how much I paid for the 3rd/4th service. But, I spent 12K+ when I did my service at 52K. The cost was mostly due to the price of Shell Synthetic Engine oil that I intentionally chose, the replacement of front Disks, caliper/drum painting etc. Also, there were a handful of smaller components replaced which all contributed to the total figure.

I must say that when I did another service - what they call a five-point service which includes wheel balancing and alignment - at 57K after a long drive it costed me only less than 1.5K. So, all I am saying is check your service bill which has the price for all parts replaced or oil etc and labour charge separately and figure out where did you end up paying more.

Re: Maruti Swift Servicing at 20,000 KM

How much would a swift diesel service cost with the following :

1) All filters ( air/diesel/oil )
2) coolant/gear oil/brake fuid
3) engine oil ( semi-synth in punto)
3) paid service.

My 4th paid service/38,000 km for my Punto cost me around 10.5K for above ( it actually cost me 13.6 K but I'm excluding brake pads that were 3K) - wanted to do a comparison with the Swift diesel.

Re: Maruti Swift Servicing at 20,000 KM

Is it necessary to change the fuel filter [Swift Petrol 2008 with OEM fuel Filter] if it's 4 yrs old & not giving any problems?
Done only 15k kms. When checked with SA of Bimal, said it's not rqrd since no jerks etc. IMO it's due if it has done 40k kms or 4yrs. Though not having any problems, as a preventive measure is it advised to change it or better not to meddle the OEM filter till it gives some indication of plugging. My fear is ( I may be wrong) even if it's 20-25% blocked, the strain will be on fuel pump & also car may run on lean mixture(I'm using K&N, so better air intake).
Experts pls advice.
Thanks,

Re: Maruti Swift Servicing at 20,000 KM

I have 30K service due for my SWIFT VDI. While I have been diligent in the servicing, I somehow feel I have been taken for a ride by DD motors. My regular service station has been DD motors Wazirpur (from where I purchased my car) and I have been getting a bill around 7-7.5 for 10K and 20K which included 1200-1300 as labor charges

My queries
1. What should I get serviced at 30K ?. I am already planning a radiator flush, oil change, wheel alignment, rotation, balancing.
2. I had raised this issue of high labor charges last time and they replied that it is same everywhere. Is this true?
3. I am planning to switch this time to Maruti Owned Service Station at Naraina. Can anybody guide me if that would be a correct choice
4. I find the driver seat quite uncomfortable (which has resulted in prolonged back ache. I have a daily drive of around ~100 kms) and while I have managed till now by Amaron back support and tail bone support, i would like to get some supported seat covers. Can anyone guide me where can I get those
5. Great car detailing places in West Delhi

I know this an exhaustive list but these questions have been lingering around in my mind for quite some time.

Thank you in advance

Re: Maruti Swift Servicing at 20,000 KM

Got my Swift Vdi serviced at Maruti Sales and Service, Naraina. I requested only to do the bare essentials as recommended by maruti. The SA was honest enough to ask me whether I wish to go for synthetic/mineral oil. Since my car was already on synthetic oil, I asked to continue with synthetic.
The real shocker was final bill of Rs.10410. Welcoming the comments of fellow bhpians and gurus. Cost break up is:

PARTS:
1. Plug assy, oil drain: Rs.75.56
2. Coolant (SB) non amine: Rs. 626.67 (3 litres @ Rs208.89/l)
3. Brake fluid: Rs. 173.34 (300 ml @ Rs.57.78/100ml)
4. Service kit, New Swift Diesel: Rs.1608.89 (includes the air/oil/diesel filters)
5. Grease, caliper assy: Rs.56.88 (2 qty @ Rs28.44 each)
6. Screen wash concentrate: Rs.13.33
7. Balance weight: Rs.66.66 (includes 10, 20, 30 gms weight)
8. MGGO (75W90)- Shell: Rs.816.84 (2.6 litres @ Rs.314.17/l)
9. Synthetic oil (0W40)- Mobil 1: Rs.3164.57 (3.1 litres @ 1020.83)

Labour:
1. Paid service (20k km): Rs.1375
2. Wheel Alignment: Rs.275
3. Side slip & brake tester charges: Rs.475
4. Wheel balancing (5 wheels): Rs.275
5. Radiator assy R&R: Rs.550
6. Body Washing: Rs.20

Sub total: Rs.6602.74(parts) and Rs. 2970(labour)
Final amount: Rs.10410 (after 5% disc on parts and 8% disc on labor equating to Rs. 567.73)

Now,
- I did not asked for the Rs.550 labour of Radiator R&R but was told that this is done whenever coolant is to be replaced and this charge is towards engine flush used.
- Ripped on pretext of side slip and brake tester charges
- Rs.20 towards washing charges was told to be standard in services

Even if I remove the radiator R&R and side slip charges, the service still amounts for approx Rs.9200 which is high by any standards. This too at service center that is whole-solely owned by Maruti and there is no scrupulous dealer involved.

Any other possible points where I have been fleeced? Your suggestions invited.

Please post your bill break up of 20k km service. Would be interesting to see the comparo as I too got my Swift Vdi serviced very recently. The charges of a MSS which are supposed to be the fairest vs a private dealer whose charges/practices are usually doubted upon.

This is the main reason I shifted from alto to amaze . If I had to pay more for service I might as well own a Honda while doing it . No offence to anyone intended .

Okay, so I wish to share whatever information I could decipher from M.A.S.S guys:

Plug Assy, Oil Drain: It do not need a compulsory replacement every service. However, the same is charged to every swift owner. Next time, after service insist them to show where the old oil plug drain is after replacement. And please deny paying for this rip off.

Coolant: Either they have under charged you or have under-filled the coolant. Swift manual clearly states that diesel engine requires 3 liters of coolant (6 liter is the coolant requirement and it is diluted in 1:1 ratio with water). The 2 liter coolant that you have been charged is for Swift petrol model.

Distilled water: wondering where have they put 4 liters of distilled water. If they say they are filling it in windshield water reservoir, chances are that on the next visit they may charge you distilled water for washing of your car. Rip off again.

MGGO: This is the transmission oil/gear oil. Maruti service interval recommends changing it at 20000 km service interval. Justified charge.

Even the labor charges for service varies in our invoices. And charges for brake labor, who knows if they even did anything there or not. Unless you specifically mentioned of less effective braking.

Cons(Dies): This is beyond my understanding. Probably, a well wisher at M.A.S.S wish to warn you that you as a consumer may die [cons(dies) is the used abbreviation] out of heart attack with such costly services.

Regards
