Tolerance levels for Warranty/Maintenance plan kms

Rather confusing title I had to give. My question how much leniency or tolerance does the dealerships exhibit in terms of additional kms logged with respect to a particular service milestone or warranty/maintenance milestone.

Say for example the final free service for a car is at 10000 kms. Will the car be serviced free even after it logs several kms beyond 10000 kms are will the dealer deny free service because the car was not sent in before it completed 10000 kms.

Similarly for a warranty that ends at say 40000 kms will it be ineffective right from 40001 kms. Or the dealer will consider it still under warranty as a good will gesture say if the vechicle has not crossed another 1000 kms (for example) 0 to 41000 kms or so.

They generally do not create a problem about the free servicing if the kilometers are a little beyond. But they might create an issue about the warranty period for obvious reasons. All depends on the goodwill of the dealer though.

@landcruiser - though there are rules & limits, it all depends on the relatioship with the dealer which matter in case you have overshot the prescribed limits.

there are numerous instances in Team-BHP where members have got warranty benefits even when it was out of warranty by a small margin.
