Re: Shreenath Motors Mumbai (Authorized Hyundai ASS) attempted to change my registered phone number

Update #4

Warning letter issued against customer manager by the workshop's senior manager. Unsure if it means anything internally, but I appreciate that the senior manager has taken prompt action towards this today itself.

Rest assured I will not be visiting this service centre again in the future.

Update #5 final update

Received a response from the territory and service manager for Hyundai India West assuring me of action taken by them. At this point the matter stands closed from our side.

I hope they take this feedback seriously and not try to manipulate the system in the future.

Wow, to submit review, the dealership manager changed the registered phone number. That is why they say India is not for beginners. Given the slightest chance, you will be scammed.

That way maruti is much better, touchwood. My Scross was billed and temp registered on a different date than promised causing me loss as owning 2 cars attract more tax. The Maruti manager came to my home to reimburse the loss. I refused saying I don't want him to be penalized but he insisted the company will handle it.

Re: Shreenath Motors Mumbai (Authorized Hyundai ASS) attempted to change my registered phone number

This is not new and had been going on for ages. I remember this same incident happened to me when I showed displeasure after the service of my Honda City in 2012. The number was changed and there was no way of knowing about this change because no apps existed at that time. I took my car for next service to some other workshop and there I came to know. The SM of previous ASC had registered his own number. Luckily, I had the previous jobcard with me which mentioned the SM name. I called on that number and directly asked if it was Mr. X (SM's name) and he replied in affirmative. I reprimanded him then and there and shot an email to both Honda and the ASC. Honda was quick on reacting and matter was dealt. I remember that even the GM of that ASC visited my home pleading me to take the complaint back. I melted and wanted to take the complaint back but Honda said that it's not possible and necessary action would surely be taken.

ihotoris - this guy should lose his job, don’t make excuses for him trying to save himself. This is not a small thing, it’s a deliberate act of cheating to avoid being pulled up. He’s in a way done identity theft by replacing your phone number with his relatives number.

The letter is whitewash, nothing else. Just to make you feel something has been done when actually nothing has happened. The event hasn’t even been recorded correctly - “malpractice” is all. Because you are being soft towards a cheater he’s going to do this again to some other unsuspecting person. By not going to the service centre you are not really doing anything either.

Since you have in a way accepted their joke of an apology, I feel you should keep going to this service centre exclusively. Your name will be on everyone’s lips and mind. No one will ever try to do anything wrong with you, you will get the best service possible and become a very important person (VIP) to them.

Think about it

Cheers

I get what you are saying but it can also backfire on me - because there are apparently no real consequences for these actions they can maybe mistreat me or even damage or cause issues on my car without my knowledge.

I value my self-respect and my investment on my vehicle more than any perceived preferential treatment. Just my opinion, hope you understand.

Re: Shreenath Motors Mumbai (Authorized Hyundai ASS) attempted to change my registered phone number

All dealerships and manufacturers are hand in glove to make money since the consumer laws are not strict here in India.

In most cases the manufacturers send our grievances against the dealership/service centers to the very dealership/service center which was at fault.

Which means that the dealership/service center and customer should sort things out by themselves and then update the manufacturer once things are fine.

Never heard of any automobile manufacturer taking strict action against the dealership/service center even in worst of cases related to frauds against a customer.

I have never come across a single case where a customer has cheated a dealer/service center and has not been caught/punished by law, however there are 100s of cases reported/unreported where the authorised delaers/ service centers cheat the customers everyday, but never punished. In case some customers choose to follow the legal route, the wait is agonising and unbearable.

Ever wondered why the terms and conditions are never given in written/explained before a payment is made or in a worst case told to the customer as and when the delaership/service center has an advantage.

I have lost hope that things will ever change.
