As far as I can see, if we really care about the car, costs are going to be higher than what is advertised by dealers to attract buyers. The costs are standard and may/may not include the fine print. If you prefer, you change engine oils, filters at shorter intervals; use synthetic engine oil, etc. That increases costs.

Really speaking, the figure quoted is not one to make at least my eye***** pop. As long as the costs are not exorbitantly high or fantastically low, how does it matter, if the costs are Rs. 500-700 higher/lower for a 10K service interval amongst cars. If someone wants to nitpick about such cost variations on a close to Rs. 10 lakh car, then maybe a 800/Zen may be a better option!

I agree. Cedia is the best thing to happen to beleaguered Indians. I am at my wits to figure out why it is not selling .

Maybe prices have reduced since then but can't be sure. Will have to confirm from the service manager.

Just out of curiosity, why are the airfilters not changed till 40K service? Since it is charged after that I presume there is no performance filter. What about wheel alignment, balancing?

^^Not required I assume. Can't say for sure. Wheel alignment/balancing is done at every service and the cost is included in labour charges. I must add the cost of the 100000km service which is substantial.

100000 kms service
Oil Filter 142.41
Engine Oil 713.868
Fuel Filter 21922.05
Belt Valve Timing 3503.69
Belt P/s 2954.25
Belt-Alt&others 946.37
Gear Oil 625
Total Parts Price 30807.638
Labour Chgs 1928.5
TOTAL[ L+P] 32736.138

Cannot say much about Cedia replacement schedule for air filters and brake oils. But they seem to match Corolla's schedule, which is replacement of air cleaner filters at 40K, brake fluid at 40K, and spark plug at 40K. Labour charges do seem to be higher than Corolla, but perhaps something else was also done. Corolla's labour charges are: 0 till 20K kms, 450-495 (nonmetro/metro)at 30K, 700-770 at 40K, 600-660 at 50K, 450-495 at 60K, 775-853 at 70K. These are only for periodic maintenance for Service jobs listed under each Service Checklist excluding Washing Charges & Service Tax. This is from Toyota's website, and as usual subject to changes and fluctuations.

Well, I would blame it on media-addicted public.
Nowadays I am hearing an ad on FM for SX4.
A real estate man tries to sell a super-delux flat to a man in his own Ingileesh and the end the man says "Oookkaaai... Whaaattss Mourrre..?"
His accent/ No comments... Then the voice comes - "He must be an SX4 man..." (What an image for SX4 owners...)
But then, if you ask the ad world pundits, they would say, thats the way market is and we are sure the car will sell more...
When I was talking to Mitsu dealer in Chennai, he said, Mitsu is not targetting the common public, rather to create an image through the customers... Which they believe would be long lasting... Spread of the word... Both their cars they want to be known as sturdy, owner driven and not to be the future cabs... They are proud that there are not much of their cars in the used car showrooms, though its the same on roads as well..
It is working slowly, as the sales of Cedia is steadily climbing..
But is the pace enough to survive in this aggressive media-driven market is debatable...

Thats a cool saving. Hyundai charges Rs.550 for the same in Bangalore, in addition to the labour charges which are different for different cars -Accent its approx Rs.750.

The labor charges include tax, washing, wheel alignment. So effectively they are the same. A few hundred here and there hardly matter as long as work is done fine.
