He will have to take insurance before taking the car out of the showroom.Isn't it ? So, the insurance cover would start right from that time. While he is driving the car from Chennai to Bangalore,it would be covered by this insurance.

BTW, how much is the road tax in Bangalore ?

I always wanted to know how the cost difference and other nitty gritty for Defense personnel works out, rishab thanks for sharing it here. Now I have more info on the process.

@shankar yes the insurance we receive at the time of purchase even on a temp registration is valid across the country. I confirmed this and drove with a temp registration from Hyderabad to Pench , MP. I was stopped near the Maharastra/MP border and was asked to show the Insurance and temp registration certificate, after producing the same, the RTO officer was more interested about the specs of the car (The Linea was just released then).

Has Maruti raised prices coz noidaauto.com is showing hiked prices (or is this hike only in case of CSD prices). The hike is almost between 25 to 30K in case of Dzire & SX4.

Purchasing a car through CSD saves a lot of money, but it does become a bit of a time consuming process. The loan process is also a bit skewed. if the main applicant is eligible for a loan then its not an issue, else, you need to take a loan with a co-applicatant. The bank will release the payment to the dealer, who will then make the DD for the canteen. Armed with the DD and the signed forms, one needs to go to the Canteen, and submit everything, after which the CSD will release the PO. One needs to take the PO to the dealer, who will then process it.
From my understanding, CSD purchases happen between the individual and the car manufacturer, the dealer is "helping" the process. So the receipt, and everything happens between the mfg and the individual.

The delivery usually takes about 10-20 days from the release of the PO.

Sometimes the dealer can extend their monthly freebies to th customer, depending on the dealer (like free insurance etc) other than that everything else is paid for (like the mud flaps, mats etc)

The more expensive the car, the higher the saving. on the Alto you save about 40K, on a fiesta about 1L and the skodas about 1.5L and so on.

The officer cannot sell the car for a period of 2 years, in the event he/ she does so, they will have to pay the difference.

@augustus23 : The difference wont be huge comparing to the above quote. I suggest you go to the CSD Depot or the authorised CSD dealer for the exact price.

No. Check from your nearest depot which will give you the exact price. However, the difference should not be much.
