Congratulations! You must be on top of the world. Really lucky that the car was not registered, and that you had the dealers co-operation.

Enjoy the car!

Dude....dont forget to buy a boat LOL!

Seriously there are couple of marques in my mind that deliver fantastic cars backed by lousy dealerships i.e. Fiat, Honda and Skoda. My dad owns a Palio 1.6 GTX and I am an ex OHC owner. I see 1st hand the kind of issues he has faced with spares & service. Fortunately it is a reliable 2002 mfg car so no major issues so far.

Proud to say I didnt succumb to the temptation of a high revving engine (Civic) and a lot of bling on the dashboard (digital speedos are like digital watches...totally passe...call me old fashioned) and let my head rule my heart and bought a Corolla for the 2nd time. Comparatively staid car but I can depend on her (the car that is) and I can depend on my dealer and Toyota. Nothing more needs to be said.

The creature at the local Honda dealer showed me a 6 month old Civic (diff between mfg date and date of discussion) and when asked some hard question about the stock movement was quickly reduced to some jabber. That settled the case about the local dealer and the Civic. Off to Toyota I went to renew my relationship with that company.

I totally understand what you mean R2. The dealerships are a pain. My trials and tribulations with a simple dent job continues. But thankfully, the car is bulletproof, so the only times I have to go to the showroom is for the routine services. Everything else, including painting is better done outside.

It is getting better with Honda though - competition for the monopoly dealerships are coming.

Re: the speedo, I consider it something which has been very thoughtfully removed from the central dash so you see the only thing which matters - the rev counter!

HA HA! I guess in a Civic that's truly what matters. But frankly at my age I am not as 'frantic' as I used to be. my choice of cars has mellowed a bit. But given a chance, .a high revver is something I'd be very, very tempted by.

I have some colourful and most unparliamentary words to describe Honda/Fiat/Skoda dealers but the Mods would ban me instantly. Unfortunately I cant do without my daily dose of TBHP. too much to lose, so I'll act my age.

Met a person from Hyderabad who had taken delivery of a Civic Hybrid.

He was lucky that the car he was to take delivery of, smashed into a divider, as the dealer drier was driving rashly so they gave him another one. I hate to think of the person who thinks he is lucky to get delivery of what will be pitched as a "cancelled" order

Update:

With the bitter experience with Automax,, my dad cancelled the car only. He was in no mood to deal with Automax only..

Automax agreed on it since it was their fault in the beginning,

Wonderful! Now that should make them realize that 'Prevention is better than cure'.

Between, which car are you people looking at now?

We are still keen for the accord only.. But my dad has also having a look on the Merc c-class c200 (Petrol). He hates diesel cars.

I am not forcing him to go for the C class since its his choice what matters.

The problem with the c class is that its not a everyday car and can be only taken out in the evenings whereas the accord can be used on a daily basis.

@manyu - good to hear that Automax agreed to cancel the order. More customers need to be firm with their dealers and only then will the dealers improve their quality and respect for the customers.
Best of look looking at new cars buddy. Here are two cars i really like as daily driven luxury cars: The new Superb and the new Teana (both coming in a couple of months).

@manyu: Good that the misunderstandings were settled amicably.

Events that followed hopefully corrects the perception.

May or may not change mine, but it sure has a lasting impression on the customer who has decided to look elsewhere.

As they say, "Prevention is better than cure".
