I agree with both Rehaan and Scooby. Not on the dishonesty part as i have no experience of that, unless you call fleecing your customers a dishonest act.

I had sent my previous 560SEL to them, on a friends advice (he accompanied me too) for some starting trouble. After a lot of useless techie sounding talk which he gave me (taking me to be a fool who didnt know my Mercs form my Marutis) he got down to actually giving me gyan how certain bigwigs only sent their cars to him and as if he was doing me a favour by attending to my car out of turn. Irritated as i was, I specifically asked for the problem to be fixed and a quote and thank God for that, I was quoted approximately (to be read as minimum) Rs: 56,000/- and a weeks time to get my car repaired.

I differed on replacing certain parts as they were of no relation to the starting trouble and eventually took the car out of their garage when they raised their hands and said they could not guarantee smooth running if i was not going to change the parts. I was slapped a bill of Rs:4000/- for "Fault Finding" which was later reduced to Rs: 1600/- as labour charges, which i paid.

I got the car and gave it to another guy who charged me 1000/- for labour and the problem was lead to a faulty little actuator which was replaced at a cost of Rs: 2500/- (original DB).
Total cost Rs:3500/-
Time taken : Left the car in the morning at 10am and the car was with me at 2:00pm precisely with the problem solved.

Make your own deductions.

Shaman is the nearest for you. Decent for normal servicing. For all else, prefer autohangar (chandivali or worli, both are good).

Thanks,

Re: Attn Mercedes Benz Owners: Mumbai Service Recommendation

V-16 and Rehaan,
Where would you recommend other TeamBHPians go when they want their luxury cars looked at.
For example, I have some issues with my boot, I have an S class W221, the boot doesn't shut automatically upon pressing the button. So for issues like that, if we want to stay away from Shaman for example for the exorbitantly high prices and dishonesty, where would we turn to?

Do you have experience with any good guys who're especially good with luxury cars?
Thanks.

It came back with the monogram stolen from the front of the car. Just a gaping hole where the three-pointed star emblem used to be.

We called them about it, they said our driver must have stolen it!!!!

We said there was no chance and that they need to replace it.
They finally agreed, and a couple of weeks later said they had the part.

We send the car, it comes back with a faulty part, the emblem does not stay straight ever. Always slightly to the side.

Thats my limited experience with them.
Though unfortunately i have also heard a few other people mention dishonesty/malpractice in the same breath as ahura.

Re: Attn Mercedes Benz Owners: Mumbai Service Recommendation

Well dumdum its a very relative thing. I have a few guys whom i get my work done from. They offer me excellent service and reasonable pricing. Cheap you will never get because if you pay peanuts, u get monkeys....as simple as that. I think you should look for a mechanic with a trust factor from your friends having experience with them. Secondly i would look for a mechanic within the radius of 2-5 km from your place of stay. Reason being if there is an emergency it takes the least time to reach there or for him to reach you.

What area do you stay in and i can try and put you to someone close to your place.

@ Gto, my 560 SEL was transferred to my cousin (on his insistence and after i got my 300SEL, also a W126) who still has the car in Mint condition. FYI, he now also has my 300SEL The chap just loves his W126s. i actually didnt want to sell it but a 300SEL feel into my lap, so he then could not be refused as he was instrumental in getting the 300 for me on the condition that i will part with my 560 to him. Its so comforting to see him use and maintain the cars in absolute spanking condition. He also has a W126 300SDL, the LHD American model which he has promised to give to me in due course. You may spot him on the Bombay Poona Expressway, very often zipping away in his W126s, a Silver 560 SEL or a black 300SEL, or the Light Blue Metallic SDL.

Re: Attn Mercedes Benz Owners: Mumbai Service Recommendation

Hello BHPians,

I need some help with my Mercedes-Benz E240 V6 AT. The electrical wiring in the car heated and a small fire broke out. Seems like the wiring harness? needs to be replaced. Looking for a mechanic who has the right knowledge to work on this car.

I have tried Autohangar and the quotations given by them are ridiculous considering the price the same model demands today.

Thanks in advance.

These two come recommended, but I haven't personally gotten any work done from them. I know others who have.

Sakir, Khira Nagar, Santacruz (W) - +919820924434
Walter, Cherry's Garage, Gokhale Road, Dadar (W) - +919820389060

I'm going to be needing one of these guys soon myself.

Re: Attn Mercedes Benz Owners: Mumbai Service Recommendation

Any other recommendations for independent garages in Mumbai? I'm going to get an out of warranty W221 and would prefer to know a set of trustworthy folks the car can be taken to for smaller issues

Thanks

Re: Attn Mercedes Benz Owners: Mumbai Service Recommendation

HI Guys,

Bumping an old thread.

I am also on the lookout for a professional and honest service centre.

I have a W212 E350. Starting issues with car vibration in the morning.

Has anyone found a better centre than AutoHangar and Shaman in Mumbai.

Thanks in Advance!
