Try the Bosch Service Centre in Rajajinagar. Have heard good things about them

A friend of me owning a Chevrolet Optra screwed up his ECM during LPG kit installation, the issue was fixed by United Motors when ASC guys were clueless.

re: Skoda Non-Dealer Service Centers

My Skoda Laura (L&K) Diesel Automatic was purchased in May 2008 and has done 1.24 lakh km.

I was wondering if anyone has at least one year experience dealing with a reliable non skoda service center in the Hyderabad / Secunderabad area.

Here's the main problem...

AC compressor was changed in 2009 under factory warranty. Now AC is not cooling once again. (actually it is cooling only after about 30-40 minutes and/or erratically but ASS said compressor is kaput and quoted Rs 85,000 for new compressor)

All the services so far have been done at ASS.

Car is worth only about 4 lakhs and even though I love the car I can't bring myself up to spend so much. Is there any reliable workshop you guys trust with skoda or other high end cars?

In future I also plan to get my skoda serviced elsewhere if I can find a good workshop.

Thanks,
Prasad

re: Skoda Non-Dealer Service Centers

Replace your compressor with a Sanden one. Go to a car AC specialist, not the dealer

Skoda ac spares actually cost a bomb at ASS rates. If you go for the stock parts then the quote given looks legit as they change the condenser as we'll along with comp. which is the right procedure. If you retrofit with other available similar performance parts like Sanden or HCC etc, your cost would be about half or less. FNG of course.

Hi FireFoot,

Contact Mr. GAnesh - 9448911455 who has a workshop near Rajajinagar and I have read in this forum someone mentioning he gives service in your location also. SO just call him and check with him.
If you get your car serviced/checked with him please share your experience here.

Re: Skoda Non-Dealer Service Centers

Hi,

I have a similar Laura in Bangalore that has clocked 1.24 Lakh km. Till this year I used to get my car serviced at ASS. This time I tried an online service aggregator called Pitstop who referred me to a service station off Old Madras Road - Called Force Garage or so off Old Madras Road. The owner Mahesh seems to be a knowledgeable person. However for critical issues I am not sure how he is. For AC there is a very reliable guy near Sony world Koramangala - he will fix Laura AC issues better than the ASS :-). As you may have seen United Motors Bosch in North Bangalore is equally good. Good luck!

I still recommend for the DSG , Turbo/Inter cooler etc better you take to the ASS. Did not know that Pete's may service Laura , has anybody done this ?

I have - he charges 16k for a regular service (with consumable and filter replacements).

He'll push for a 10w60 OWS engine oil - just ensure it meets your engine spec (VW 507 00, etc.) If it doesn't get the right spec oil in.

For services such as bleeding, he'll take the car to a nearby Bosch. And for other specialist services, to an appropriate ASS itself (if I understood him correctly).

I spoke with Mr. Ganesh. Unfortunately he was going to be out of town for a few days and asked me to contact him at a later time. Have you used his services personally or was he recommended to you?

I, recently, came across Wheels Wisdom (http://www.wheelswisdom.com/) Though I don't know anyone in person who has used their services, I'm thinking of trying their services once solely on the basis of the reviews they have on their Facebook page - not a single bad one. Their business model seems to be confidence inspiring from the telephonic conversation I had with them. But again, this falls under 'untested waters' category.

I may have an update within a month or so. I'll certainly keep the thread updated.

I have not used his service, but I have read some people recommending his name here in this forum.
Any-ways is your car due for periodic service? or you want it for any other purpose?
Let us know your experience here with (http://www.wheelswisdom.com/) if you happen to visit them.

So go ahead Firefoot, I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed .

Hello Sharad,

Thank you so much for your views on WheelsWisdom. The singled out statements from your quote above instill a lot of confidence. It just strengthened the good vibe I have had about them (even though I haven't yet used their services.)

After your input, I'm a 100% confident about using their services in very near future. And I'm sure good experiences will end up translating into satisfied customers especially for automobiles from manufacturers who have a very bad reputation in A.S.S and it doesn't look like they are bothered about doing anything about it either.

I'll definitely post my experience here for the benefit of all the members and readers.

Cheers.

Wow, that's some review of a service guy. Moving to Bangalore soon and I will surely try them. By the way, what do the packages offer? I guess service charges will be over and above that?
