Jaguar Showroom in Bangalore - Complete with a horror story

Guess there is a Jaguar showroom opening at J.P.Nagar, opp to Jayadeva
Saw a new XF parked in the showroom.

There was a Chevrolet showroom at the same location.

Could not take a photo due to poor iphone photo quality.
The XF looked beautiful.

The security guard said that the showroom will be there for 4 months, then it will be shifting near the BMW showroom.

Jag @ J.P. Nagar?
I heard the buzz from many people that JLR was opening up at Kasturba Road (opposite to Vishweshwaraiah Museum). There is infact a construction frenzy going on at the spot for the last 6 months or so with high ceiling. (located between Mc'D and Voltas building)

Had been to the showroom today. There were 2 XFs. Both were 3 L Diesels.
Enquired about the prices. Cheapest was the 3 litre Diesel at 65 lakhs. Next is the 5 litre petrol. Most expensive is the 3 litre super charged petrol at 71 lakhs.

The land rovers are also coming to the same showroom. This is a temporary showroom. It will be moving near to Silk board, opp to Girias. That place will have a service centre too.

I was all excited that I will get to see these cars everyday. I went home and told my mom that there is a Jaguar showroom close to home. She thought it was the tap store. Shocking that the bathroom fittings have a brand image as much as the car.

re: Jaguar Showroom in Bangalore - Complete with a horror story

And JLR's service horror stories do not get better.

As reported in today's Bangalore Mirror

Executives face charges for inflated bill and using Land Rover for drag racing
Two executives of the Popular Auto Works, an authorised service centre for Land Rover, are facing a criminal charge for allegedly inflating the bill of a car’s service and also using it for drag racing.

The complaint was filed in the Mico Layout police station by Ravindra Kamath, an advocate. The complaint claimed that the advocate’s Land Rover was given for service after it developed some problems. He was assured by the service centre’s Lloyd D’Souza and Paminder Singh that the repairs would cost around Rs 1.8 lakh. But in the end, it turned out to be Rs 7.6 lakh. He was given time to pay the bill and the car was handed over to him. He was supposed to pay Rs 1 lakh per month. But a month later, the car developed similar problems and was sent for service again.

More here. The drag racing part seems to be a bit of masala though

After reading the article, it seems more like a case of the owner trying to strong arm the dealership and the concerned sales advisors, making undue advantage of his profession. Most definitely why would a court deny bail in such a petty offence. Inflation of repair and service bill is a common occurrence across the dealerships, but then they do always take your permission. If you are not satisfied with the work or their suggestions, you are free to take the car elsewhere and take a second opinion.
