Insurance almost 1K more than previous year!!!

Hi,

I own a WagonR LXi 2007 Sep model and my insurance(Maruti Insurance) is due for renewal this Nov I claimed insurance twice this year, one for windshield change and other for door dent removing and painting. Last year i paid around 6.5K and when i claimed insurance they said the cost of insurance for next year wouldn't change and you can go ahead with claiming with insurance. But now, they(Kalyani Motors, Mysore Road) say its 1K more than previous year because i've claimed!!!! What a horrifying statements. Is it true that insurance becomes more once i claim?

Thanks,
Ramki

You lost your No Claim Bonus which could be anything between 20%.

Ideally your car value has to come down and your premium also but since you have claimed your NCB will be zero this year. You tell them you will change the insurer if they don't reduce the premium. (One thousand)

Ask some other insurance company to give you good quote (Don't hide from them that you have claimed last year.)

Well, the insurance premium for someone who claims damages is obviously going to be higher than someone who has no claims. As Nitrous pointed out, you lost your No claim bonus, which is why the higher premium.

Not sure if any other insurer will offer you a lower quote, knowing that you made two claims in one year, but you can give it a shot.

Usually, I try and claim insurance only in case of major expenses, not for repairing dents etc....

Just curious, how much money did you claim from the insurance co for these two incidents?

I think this is a case of loss of no claim bonus. Compare the insurance premium calculations on the past 2 policies.

Thanks to all guys,
Ramki.

You have lost on the NCB and as well on the premium. The premium amount also increases when you have made a claim. Hence its not worth to make a claim for lesser amounts.

Now the best way is to get your insurance from a different co.

Can you please elaborate ??

I recently had my bike policy renewed with a new company. My previous insurance company had shut its business. . But the new company didnt enquire about past claims. They just noted the vehicle condition, and KM reading.
