This sounds good. Have you spoken to them on this offer. Would they actually insure classics & vintage cars for their "real value"

If they offer this service I know enough friends who will insure the vintages / classics/ new cars as a block.

Thanks for the link

Cheers

Ricky, nope have not spoken to them. This press release was received by us. Would be great if other vintage / supercar owners speak of how they go about their insurance, and if anyone has experience with Tata AIG.

All the Vintage & Classic car owners that I know, around 50 cars & counting, have all got 3rd party insurance.

Infact the W124 that I have came with a comprehensive insurance cover valid till Jan 2011, but the company is not ready to insure it now. Though it is FAR BETTER shape & condition than it was when I bought it.

Insuring Supercars is not a problem. The value being astronomical, the company is happy to charge lacs of Rupees in premium. Having said that how many super cars are actually driven on a day to day basis ? They mostly sit in garages in farm houses...

Cheers

Re: Tata AIG now offers insurance coverage to Vintage & Supercars

Hello,

I want to insure my classic, but my Tata AIG agent says that I need to be a certified member of the VCCCI. Is this true?

As much as I know most classic/vintage cars on company name get insured as specialised movable assets like machinery in plants and not as vehicles. This helps in reduced depreciation and sometimes even appreciation in IDV basedon their value in the balance sheet.
