High Points

Ford Assured multi-brand used car retail outlets to pilot in Delhi, Chandigarh, Pune, Kochi and Jaipur. More to follow.

• A 169-point check on each car in its inventory

• Cars are reconditioned by Ford trained technicians

• Limited warranty of 1 year / 20,000 km on all sold cars

• Initial two services without labour charges. 2 year roadside assistance can also be availed of.

INtrestingly, even TML is using the word "Assured" for it's pre-owned car business.

Good thing. I would like to see a FA outlet here in Bangalore (it doesnt figure out in the pilot cities for first phase) soon. would look for a clean TDCI.

Ford is indeed taking the Indian Market very seriously.

One of the reasons for Figo not doing as well as the Swift is the resale and A.S.S. With "Ford Assured" resale should be taken care of.

And regarding A.S.S, I just got a call from PVS Ford Calicut, asking me if I was satisfied with last service done about a month back. Defenitely getting better :thumbs up.

Great cars deserve good resale, and A.S.S. I wish Fiat took the Indian market as seriously as Ford.

It was high time that Ford had ventured into this business given their business outlook in India over the coming years.

I am sure there will be more buyers which till date had been put off by the low resale value. It is interetsing to know that this has come at the time when the new Fiesta was launched, are they expecting a lot of resales once the pricing is announced.

Good move by Ford, though belated. At least now people will not hesitate to buy Ford models owing to perceived value of low resale.

This is a good move from Ford. Customers can expect well maintained and reliable cars which was not possible before because of used Ford's poor image and the unorganized nature of the seconds car market.

However I hope they have realistic sticker prices since depreciation of a Ford is on the higher side. It will be a big challenge for them. If the pre-owned showroom car are higher by 75k-1L margins, they may not have great business, how much ever warranty they can promise.

Ford India (MPLFord) already was in this business in chennai from 2000 to 2003 but shut it and opened a service station there.Guess they were not competitive and successful.

Even toyota has Trust Toyota in chennai where you can find good Corollas and innova. They focus on imports/highend cars too.Last week i saw Fait 500,Porche cayanne and 2 jetta for sale

As far as I remember Ford already had "Ford Assured" at their Moti Nagar Showroom 3-4 yrs back.

Yes, I felt that they have a really good service network on my last visit to their service station here in Bangalore.
Lingarajpuram Ford was the place. An exclusive service station. No sales.

The first thing that impressed were their bays. There were upto 20 bays. And each bay had a serviceman. Upto 20 cars were serviced that day.

I had only taken the car for a chekup before a long drive. The door had a squeaking sound.
But when I got the car back in the evening. There was a complete check done on the car. Completely washed inside and outside, brakes checked, door squeak solved, carpets cleaned.

And all they charged me was Rs: 60 for the wiper liquid which I had asked for.
Impressed to say the least.

This is very good step taken by Ford India. I am sure there are many car lovers out there who wants to own Ford cars and this would send a very good message to prospective buyers and also it would help Ford gain confidence among Indian car buyers that Ford India is now Ford for India and not the American Ford as few years back.

The resale car market in India is growing at the same time buyers are more conscious now than before. I have seen many colleagues/friends prefer to buy owned / pre-worshiped cars from TrueValue, FirstChoice than from local resale dealers even though they have to spend few thousands of Rs extra for the peace of mind/avoid formalities/a feeling of somewhat safe w.r.t. free service/some sort of warranty etc.

It will also send a good message that one's car has a good resale market, IMO.

Good move. If one wants to buy a new Ford, by selling off his old one, then it should be a seamless procedure!
Hope they add Bangalore to the list.

Ford India did have Ford Assured earlier on also but I guess the Ford Assured strategy was discontinued 3-4 years back due to lack of planning and lack of sales. Let's see what happens now.

Does anyone know if there will be seperate outlets of FA or would it be offerred through the existing dealerships.

If i wish to sell my car (Fiesta 1.6S) in Bangalore whom should i contact?

Great news clap:

Does this mean that some of the old Ford cars get a new lease of life?

I was looking for a Fusion+ and looks like I might just get one.
